Winning Jersey Style by Don Somma (2012-02-22)

Although the title of this book is Winning JERSEY STYLE, the author has intertwined his personal beliefs with the problems of high school football players and administrators. The theme is coaching high school football but it is as much about life, morality, integrity as it is about winning football games. This is a must read for all who long for tolerance and dignity.

In this day of "everyone must receive a reward" this is a timely message and one that is told very well. Don Somma preaches winning. Not at the expense of other, but winning for self and your community. Growing up in Jersey was special and this book shows how special it was. Football and other sports were a part of life and it made for a close knit community. This book echoes the childhood of each boy growing up in this state. We worked hard at school during the week and played hard during the weekend.This is a book every modern Coach can learn from. It proves that a good coach is not just about wins and loses but about improving and advancing the lives of the students they coach.This book will be read by those that not only want to be the next great coach but always the next great leader.

I enjoyed Coach Somma's descriptive style of his life, coaching, in the New Jersey High School system. I recommend this as an easy read for all pure sports enthusiasts!

I know the author and this is a great accounting of his life in NJ and coaching career in th public system.

An entertaining book by a good man. I would be proud for my sons to play for Coach Somma. We need coaches and educators that care as much as he.

A must read by all whom Coach Somma was able to influence and those who never met Coach. It was a fast read.
