In this book you will learn how to gift others with words of encouragement. Florence writes, "When our words come out of our mouths, they should be like little presents all wrapped up to be given away." Those words are like little silver boxes with bows on top; treasures that last beyond the present moment in time.What would happen if you started a "silver box ministry" and blessed others with your words? The overhead cost is low and the return on investment would exceed your expectations. In giving to others and following the command to love one another, you are truly blessed. I really enjoyed learning about her husband Fred, who has a Cosmetics Counter Ministry!I'd recommend this book as an essential to any Christian library. It's a good message of edifying others and includes many examples of how to become a vessel of encouragement. This book reminds us that the words we say can often have far reaching effects we don't anticipate.Often people are more quick to criticize than to praise.There is something for everyone in this book. You can open it up to any chapter and begin reading. I must have given away at least 10 of these books as gifts since I bought my first copy after hearing her speak on the radio years ago.Hear what the power of words can do with Florence Littauer's inspiring book "Silver Boxes, the Gift of Encouragement".When I was teaching 4th and 5th grade I had the children cover their small lunch milk containers with foil and decorations and leave them out in a place at home which would remind them to say positive things to people around them. They and their families loved it. Sometimes we all need a little to reminder to be more generous with our positive thoughts.

I have heard Florence Littauer tell the Silver Boxes talk and it changed my life. I try to live by this book.

I received the book in the condition it was listed as being in..... great/new with some shelf wear on the jacket. It was purchased to donate to a church library in honor of my Grandmother who passed away and lived her life the way the book talks about. I was a little disappointed at the wear on the book jacket but knew when I ordered it that was going to be there. Since the book is out of print and can't be ordered from the press, this was my only choice. Overall, I am very pleased. It arrived promptly as well, and during the holidays, that makes me very impressed with this vendor.

This book is a great reminder of how our words, tone of voice, attitudes, motivations, perceptions et al impact others and ourselves for good and bad. It is filled with examples. We want our words to be uplifting and encouraging, and this little book can help make us mindful.

This purchase was for 3 incredible lady friends of mine. I read this book some years back and left a wonderful impression and message I carry with me each day. A book to read when you think life hasn't been fair or good to you, once you read it I think you will look at things a bit differently. Florence Littauer's writing covers a wide range on how to negotiate life on a more positive approach, thereby being more fulfilling. I recommend this book as a starter if you are looking for a new path to travel.

I bought this book when it first came out, and it changed my way of speaking. I loaned it out so many times, I can’t rember who had it last. Everyone who ever read it told me of the changes in their lives. Now I am so pleased to have it again on my Kindle. I still share the message with others, and I am blessed every time I do.

Good condition though a little round around the dust cover.

She demonstrates so beautifully how we can be a blessing in someone else's life. she teaches us so sweetly and gently how important our words are.

I first read this book many years ago, and have passed my copies on to friends. Helps you look at others differently, and review what you say and do.
