Q: Does it scan two sided documents ?

The one I have does, you feed the document into a slot and it scans twice after it is setup for two sides.

Q: Will the 201x print cartridge work in this printer?

No. That cartridge does not fit/work in the 227dfw printer. I believe the 201/201x are intended for the color printer (I use those for my 277dw printer).
