WILD! Science Weird Slime Goo Lab - Science Kits for Kids - Stem - Make Your Own Slime Experiments

My 10 year old son purchased this set with money he received for his birthday. He really wanted this kit and was happy with the results. This kit is not a glue-based type of slime kit. Rather it uses liquid calcium chloride and sodium alginate gel to make slimey, gummy things. When you drip alginate gel into a bath of calcium chloride, the calcium ions in the solution cross- linked the polymers in the alginate, attaching them to each other at many points. This cross-linking created a flexible, soft solid - a gummy bead or even a gummy worm! The only household item you need to do this kit is a teaspoon of table sugar.The illustrated directions are easy to understand and my son enjoyed making all the different shapes of gummy things from fake fish eggs, to green gummy worms and brown tadpoles and leeches. Making the gummy " ghostly eyeballs" took a bit of skill, but after a couple of tries, he was thrilled with his creepy gooey eyeball. Overall, an enjoyable activity kit that would make a nice gift.

This was an easy 5 stars! How would it not be, when it's slimy goo that my 9-year-old grandson revels in? This set includes everything a young "scientist" needs to get their experiments under way: beakers, spoons, goggles, face mask, pipettes, stirring sticks, specimen tubes, colors, jars, dish, "workbench," calcium chloride, and the all-important instruction guide. I recommend using a cookie sheet under the set to catch any spills. The set kept my grandson occupied for an hour...unheard of in our household! We had no issues and recommend this educational science toy.

Holy slime, this was the HIT of the pile of presents my niece received on her birthday. She's eight and more into STEM than clothes, boys, and makeup, so this kit was perfect for her. She was a little turned off by some of the things included with the kit that were meant to turn the slime from super cool to super gross, like gizzards and tadpoles. It seems like those were included to appeal to boys and their stereotype of liking all things gross (versus them liking this kit otherwise or being turned off by the educational aspect). Including little bits that might have had different reactions with the slime when added would have been a better use of materials and increased the "That was COOL!" quotient.Everything you need is included in the kit, and it's pretty easy to get going. They do offer a list of other items you can add if you wish to do more experiments, though. I do recommend putting down a barrier such as a plastic table cloth or trash bag so that no furniture is ruined, and for kids to use either an old shirt that can get stained or an apron. The instructions mention the dangers of each component, which provides an opportunity to teach about the dangers of chemicals and proper safety around them. As we went through the various experiments in this kit, it was incredibly helpful to have my laptop nearby as a way to google ingredients and reactions in order to provide additional material for my niece to read/watch as the instructions are lean when it comes to this. It provides the basics, but not enough to answer all the "Why?' questions that will be thrown your way by an inquisitive child.Overall, not a bad kit for the price. My niece really enjoyed the creation process and with the help of the interwebs came away with a fun lesson in chemistry.

My 9-year-old granddaughter loves all things slime, and loves doing her “science” experiments, so this slime science kit was a huge success with her. Her eyes almost literally bugged out when she saw the box.She tore right into it and started mixing and “experimenting” using the easy-to-follow directions, and was very proud of her creations.Of course, it’s a bit messy, but that’s the nature of all things slime, in my experience. I don’t get the attraction, but then, I’m not nine years old, either.She loved it, and had fun, and that’s the only thing that counts. Five stars!

This is a different kind of slime vs. the white glue based concoctions out there. The end product here will be far smaller but more interesting than what you or your child might be expecting.This involves a little more chemistry and a cool reaction that allows kids to make, as the product description indicates, "boogers, guts and gizzards, blood clots and more." Given my kids are of the age when boogers and associated gross things are a guaranteed to engage them you really can't go wrong here. The only downside is that you'll only get an hour or two out of the kit.The first project involves making little slimy balls that can pop when squished. Using the same chemical reaction the child is encouraged to experiment with different shapes in subsequent projects. But it all involves the same chemical reaction so any additional things the kid will do involve pouring in one substance in different ways to impact the output. My kids and I added in some other food coloring we had to go beyond the two colors included in the box.But at the end of the day there's only about an hour or two of fun in this box. We probably would have gone longer or had a second session with it had we not run out of supplies so quickly.

Our kids love science and this science kit is really cool in that it is SLIME! This kit is great with clear instructions and safety accessories which is wonderful! Requires adult involvement for younger kids.

It comes with 1 pair of googles and rubber gloves and face mask, so only one child can use it at a time. You do have to use it at the sink. The kids were very impressed at their creations.
