Buettner does it again
I've been interested in the work done by Dan Buettner for some time now. Have read some of his other books and thought I would buy this book too. Wasn't disappointed, a lovely book with some great recipes. The photography and general quality of the book is fantastic, it is a pleasure to read and would make a fantastic. For those not familiar with Dan's work, this is not just a recipe book but seeks to build on his Blue Zones work and feels like a genuine attempt on his part to make a practical contribution to the work on this fascinating subject matter.I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Great book, arrived very quickly
This is a great book. I was prepared to wait a long time to get it but it arrived much quicker than expected from the US. I can’t wait to try all the recipes. There is a handy conversion chart at the back of the book for non US cooks for pounds to grams, cups to millimetres etc. I just wish there were slightly more pictures of each recipe so I know it looks like what I have actually made. Lots of different food types to suit everyone.

Easy and inspirational.
I’m so glad I ignored the reviews about odd ingredients or measurements. This is a fab book with inspirational yet often simple recipes. Easy enough to convert the recipes from US measurements and add pencil notes or just invest in some US cup measures. There are a few more exotic recipes/ingredients but I find that really fascinating and there are substitutes suggested. You can also find lots of these things online if you really want to make it authentically. Personally I never expected to be able to make authentic Okinawian dishes out of ingredients from my local Asda. It’s a really interesting bit of culinary anthropology and a great dietary inspiration. The Falafel recipe is yummy.

Inconsistent pictures of recipes
The book has beautiful illustrations and photos of the series however not all recipes have a complete picture of the dish. For example, it shows the ingredients for a risotto but not the completed dish. The photos of the dishes are very grey and not very appealing. Disappointed

Wonderful book
This book is a great guide to the Blue Zones and their dietary habits. It contains many delicious recipes under each of the 5 Blue Zones. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who hasn’t read any of the more scientific-based Blue Zones books as there are more than adequate explanations about longevity and health of the populations involved. Beautifully illustrated, I wish I had found it before.
