NIce lamp, surprisingly well built
I've been on a long search for a lamp similar to the discontinued IKEA gooseneck "Jansjo" lamp and I believe I have found a worthy contender -- one that's even superior in some ways. Specs + Overall length is 24 inches, flexible gooseneck portion is 17 inches. + Daylight color tint -- "cool" light, not "warm" Probably 5,000 to 6,000 Kelvin + Strong magnetic base + Lamp head has a push-pull zoom that projects an adjustable but well-defined lighting circle -- minimal side spillage + Two brightness levels. I learned that you don't have to fully click the switch to change brightness. It's enough to slightly press the switch to break contact then release. Full click is only necessary for power on/off. + Stiff gooseneck stays when you bend it -- unaffected by gravity. Battery cap is a bit difficult to screw back on because of the spring and the fine threads but you'll get the hang of it. Since it's battery operated then you obviously can't leave it on indefinitely. But if you are handy with tools, you could wire this up with a 4.5 VDC battery eliminator. I did. If you use it intermittently then batteries are fine -- but I'd recommend Eneloop rechargeable batteries. The regular ones, not the "pro". If you plan to use the lamp with the base resting on a (non-magnetic) table, you'll need to make a small platform for the lamp to stick to. I made such a platform with a 4 x 5 x .5 inch scrap of wood on which I affixed a small steel plate at one end for the lamp to stick to. Perfect. Lamp feels solid and well-constructed. Push button feels solid. I bought two more on the strength of my impression with the first one.

BEST Gooseneck Light Ever!!!
This is the flexible-neck LED light that does it all: HI-LO brightness, fully flexible neck that holds its shape, and excellent AA battery life. The HI setting puts a lot of light on a subject, which I use for furniture forensics, inspection of my crawl space and under the deck, and in my F-150 truck. The adjustable lens concentrates the light or opens up to a very clear spot. The magnet on the handle is very strong and handy, and the light functions fine in wet environments. The LO setting has been useful for most uses, and extends an already long battery life. If you are not convinced already, then I’ll add that this light has the Next-LED CREE LED, which I believe is the best in the industry!

Great Work light
Bought for fly tying but need to order a couple more. They work great. Magnet could be a bit stronger but for the price point they are great. My buddies bought a couple as soon as they saw me using mine

Pretty good
It works. The light intensity choices are in a good range, not too bright, not too dim. The gooseneck is a good length, wouldn't want it any shorter. The magnet is just barely workable, it will hold onto a vertical surface, but you have to be very careful not to accidentally bump it off. A stronger magnet would be helpful.

A Lot of Possibilities
Apparently I like lights . . and I like this one. My high school physics teacher taught us that the intensity of light is inversely proportional to the square of the distance . . at twice as close the light is four-times as bright. Lost your keys . . stick this under the bed and you might be surprised what you find (beside dust bunnies). Concentrated light in remote areas . . including under the hood or other places with secrets. Three things so-so: the magnet is good, until you screw on the bendy wand, then it is marginal; the hi-low switch works, but seems like it should be on the main body (you instinctively seem to search there for it; and would have been nice hi-med-off, instead of hi-off-med-off, you don't always know what setting you're on), but the Supreme Frustration is the screw-on battery base cap. I have Duracell 2500mAh AAs, so shouldn't be a problem anytime soon. I could understand every comment others made; it can be frustrating to re-attach the base. I examined my old Maglite for an explanation, but didn't find anything definitive. They both have fine threads with lead-in shoulder . . although I just tried the NextLED and it didn't fight me as much this time (maybe the silicone grease helped). Overall I like it in my specialty light box. I haven't had occasion to use it much but it's good to know it's there for when I will. Seems well made but should be treated with some respect (all that bendy stuff is good, until it isn't).

Issue with button, stopped working
Worked great for about 6 weeks, and button stopped working. Will not shut off and button seems to have moved under the rubber casing. Was being used as a flashlight for washing machine when the door is open magnets worked great to hold light at door, but disappointed the button stopped working

Handy
This comes in very handy whenever I am in need of a bright little flashlight with a strong magnetic base. The flexible neck helps to direct the light to where it's needed.
