Magical - almost meditative
I honestly didn't think this book would appeal to my 3 year old. He's a fast-paced, perpetual-motion machine. But there is something just so calming and engaging about this simple story. I love how tangible the imagery is. It really teaches children to stop and appreciate their surroundings for what they are.Head's up, though. My husband for some reason thought this was a board book. If you're at all confused, it's not! It's hard cover and paper pages, meaning that it runs the risk of some ripping with toddler use.Pro Tip - My toddler now loves to play "Wolf and Bear." We each pick a character and recite their part of the story. So sweet!

This gentle, kind book is very special. The illustrations reflect the peaceful nature of the characters and are truly beautiful. The story is about the friendships that come from having an open heart and joy that can be found all around us when we take the time to be quiet and enjoy nature's gifts. I love this book.

Calm, beautiful story
This is such a calm book with two animals using their senses to notice things around them and enjoy each other's company. If you have an anxious kind of kid, this will be very soothing for them. Beautifully illustrated as well.

Quickly became a favorite
A wonderful message for my 3-year-old, almost 4, grandson, and the illustrations are wonderful. Friends traveling together, parting, and then happily reuniting when the season changes is such a powerful message in these times. The fact that the illustrations so remind my grandson of Those Darn Squirrels and Dragons Love Tacos (both series are favorites) is just added value. I am so pleased to see this author/illustrator striking out on his own. I will keep a close watch for more.

Excellent Illustrations, Story Falls Flat
I wanted to love this book. It has great illustrations, but the story does not capture the imagination of our child. We got to the end and he said "wait, that's it?" This one likely won't be coming off the shelf very much, so we will probably donate it.The story arc is as follows: wolf and bear randomly meet in the winter and go for a walk, they return to their families, they randomly meet again in the spring, the end. This story also feels somewhat of a ripoff of "Letters from Bear (2012)" which has much better illustrations.

Empathy Building and Beautiful
I liked the beautiful illustrations, and the empathy teaching technique of reversing perspectives (to help demonstrate unique personhood to kids). Really lovely!

Inspired us to buy more of Daniel’s books
This book is so peaceful and calming. It makes the perfect bedtime story, with its beautiful artwork and simple, soft prose. It inspired us to get Daniel’s other books, which we also love.

multiple perspectives and diverse lifestyles explored in this great story.
Bear and wolf have different lives that intersect very nicely once in a while. In that moment of overlap we witness them explore the woods from a variety of perspectives: up close, high above, and even from underneath (the water). The illustrations are lovely as well. Wonderful book.

Einfach zauberhaft!
Dieses Buch erzählt mit großer Wärme und Zartheit die Freundschaft zwischen zwei sehr unterschiedlichen Tieren und ihr gemeinsames Staunen über die Natur. Wunderbar illustriert!
