Worked great
Worked good on my xtm 457. I start it with my 20v DeWalt on torque setting 3 and a roto start rod. (In reverse)

Good idea but cheap potmetal gears ruin your day quickly....
Well...i will say that the system is better than yanking a pull starter to fire up your nitro motor, but...The major problem with these things is that the metal that the gears are made with is cheap potmetal or something and teeth break off with alarming regularity...I have a traxxas revo with a .32 LRP big block in it with the traxxas big block convesion kit...the kit moves the motor back in the chassis and puts it real close to the left rear upper a-arm...so close in fact that u cannot use any type of pull starter and the ez start simply won't bolt to the bigger motor, nor would it fit in the space either, thus forcing u to use a bump starter and a regular non- pull start back plate...However, if u move the motor up one hole forward on the motor mount supplied with the conversion kitu can actually fit a drill starter type backplate such a the one i am reviewing...a minor bit of grinding on the chasis, and the upper a-arm, and a hole in the throttle and reverse servo box and drilling four new holes about 2 -3 millimeters towards the front and moving the transmision foreward to the new mounting holes u can fit the gizmo to the motor and use it pretty successfully...but...if the motor floods and/or hydro locks, and if u are using a 20 volt drill to start your high compression big block, the weak link (teeth on the gears) shows its ugly face and breaks, usually 2 or 3 teeth on the big gear, and in some cases the smaller gear breaks off about 5 or six teeth...thus leaving your rc car completely un able to turn ove and start, making your day end quickly, sometimes b4 it even begins, which in my case has happened at least 4 or 5 times recently....But if u are smart. U turn the clutch on your drill down to the 5 or 6 range so if your motor does hydro lock it doesn't break the teeth on the gears....Usually on a cold start up when there isn't a full crankcase of nitro fuel to lubricate the moving parts, especially the piston at tdc, the gears will tend to break unless u loosen the glow plug to releive some compression until the fuel gets into the cylinder..., that has been my experience anyways....This is the 6th one i have bought so far and it is holding up ok for now, but i have to follow the procedure i have explained to the letter, othewise i am 100% sure i will break another one...but i do say once again " it is better than yanking a pull starter"...If the gears were made of some better steel, i would give ita 5 star rating....but it is what it is...

easy to install but make sure u have access to with starter
works as it should just use lock washers when installing.

Needs a different housing
Over all not overly excited with this. The housing is made of plastic which means you can easily heat up the gearing and melt the housing and then it falls apart. Not recommended of your engine is hard to start.
