The Ancestral Oracle of the Celts: Call on Your Ancestors for Guidance, Help and Healing

Caitlin Matthews is one of my heroes in Celtic and Esoteric studies, and this set does not disappoint. Highly accessible but not overwhelming, this set is amazing for connecting with Ancestors, and getting answers to practical as well as spiritual questions.Unlike many deck sets, this book actually provides an option for a health reading! As with all of Caitlin's work, this is well written, optimally organized, and combines her brilliant scholarly approach with a powerful energetic experience in beautiful synergy.I only wish publishers would take Caitlin, as well as her husband, John, as seriously as I do, and honor their work with quality production! I have John Matthews' Shaman's Oracle produced by the same company as this, and I adore it, but the card stock doesn't stand up to regular use very well.Someday perhaps publishers will realize that many of us would pay a few dollars more to have something that will last. My first order of this set arrived damaged and I had to return it for a replacement!One small complaint about design:The borders on most of the cards are large and brightly colored, and unnecessary because there is a colored seal on each of them that maintains the color-code and suit.Otherwise, it comes in a nice, hard and sturdy box with a ribbon pull drawer. The book is decent quality of pure content and fits well with the deck inside the box. Looks lovely on the shelf!

Caitlin Matthews' wisdom comes from a deep place of clarity nurtured by a lifelong dedication to the spiritual and ancestral paths. Along with Wil Klingman's vivid pictures, she reveals the ways in which we all can find our own truths grounded in the ancestors, both tribal/cultural and personal. The power of all card Oracles lies in their ability to show us clear truths grounded in stories, the stories that connect us to the past and are alive now. This pack has brings us that grounding in strong vivid images and stories.

I was very disappointed to learn after buying this deck that is is the same as her Celtic Wisdom Oracle which I already own. Had this been mentioned in the write up, I woud not have purchased the deck. Actually I like the art work in the Celtic Wisdom Oracle much more than in this deck. It just feels very decieptive.

Cards are beautiful. Interesting symbolism. Unless your well versed in Celtic Lore it will take some studying to get comfortable with this deck.The companion book seems to be full of lots of helpful information. BUT ANYONE WITH mild impared vision issues is a struggle to read and is a major strain. The print is small and in grey type on greyish paper which is EXTREMELY hard to read with out extra lighting. Any one with vision issues this would be impossible to read and learn.I couldn't get more information on this deck with the publishers.

The concepts in this oracle deck are beautiful and so much-needed for our current Ancestral Celtic Revival, but I was so disappointed in the artwork. A couple of the images are spot-on, but it would have been nice to see ALL the archetypes illustrated without hyper-masculine, warlike and macho men, and without hyper-sexualized femininity or women stereotyped as "young maidens" (except for the actual card "The Maiden" of course). There are many examples available these days for depicting the human form as timeless, mystical, and without stereotypes - too bad Wil Kinghan did not do this research before releasing dated imagery into the world.
