A Lot of Info
At over 1000 pages, this covers a lot of topics and for the most part seems to cover them well. This is the third edition from 2014 (not sure if there's a newer edition or not) so given the nature of technology some parts may be slightly out of date but that's no knock on this book. I bought the book out of personal interest in learning the content, so most of the material was new to me apart from HTML & CSS basics and I think the author did a great job laying out the various technologies available in web development. I took the time to type out and save many of the code samples in the book, which I recommend doing. Typing out the code helps it stick in memory better than just reading it in the book or copying & pasting from the companion website.I've been playing around with some personal web pages using HTML/CSS/MySQL/PHP/AJAX/Javascript/JQuery, and find myself referring back to this book quite a bit in addition to the usual online searches. I think it's a good foundation to start with before picking up some of the newer books on the specific technologies that interest you.

Almost everything you need to know about HTML and CSS3
There were several errors in the CSS format examples, but they are minor and can easily be overcome by the astute reader. Some of the information needed further clarification if the reader is a true CSS dummy. The W3Schools online was a great help in furthering the possibilities of CSS and goes hand-in-hand with this book as does the online website by the author. These are two URLs to bookmark and refer to frequently. The print is both very small (maybe 9pt) and the examples are so faint that a magnifying glass is helpful to see what the coding is supposed to look like. The text editors that are recommended are a benefit since they will show errors in the coding and even include the line number of the error. This book is well worth the cost and one that will remain in your library as long as you are working with HTML5 and CSS3.

In Depth Examples for Learning HTML5
I am an old school html author. (I still have a web site that uses frames.) I read that frames are now supposed obsolete. I decided that it is time for me to re-learn html by adopting html5 coding. This book has been a good source for learning the new rules. Sure, I could have just bought a wysiwyg editing program. I already did that in the past but then that company got taken over and I refuse to pay a subscription every month for a program that only gets used once a year. I prefer to know how to write the actual code so I don't need another program to create it for me. I also gain greater control over web pages with my own code. This book has been very thorough so far. (I have only read the 1st half of the 1000+ pages.) A lot of the information is already familear to me. It is going to be harder to unlearn what I already know that works. The book is well written with lots of examples to make it easy to see how it works. I can recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to code html5.

Comprehensive Web Development Information.
The author, Andy Harris, presents the material in a very easy to understand manner starting with the basics and proceeding to increasingly complex tools and designs. Probably one of the best books for beginners as well as more experienced website developers. Even for those who build websites using higher-level software, such as WordPress, this book provides insight as to what's under the covers.

Lifesaver!
This book was on the suggested reading list for one of my MLIS classes. This should be required reading (not suggested reading!) for anyone with little/no knowledge of website building, code, etc. Very well organized, and provides lots of details and examples. I look forward to purchasing additional Dummies books related to this topic. I would definitely recommend this book.
