It has a lot of modes and a full range of colours you can set it to and a neutral light as well. Uses four AA batteries or usb adapter not included but cable is. The phaser remote uses two AAA batteries. It does look like a rock when off and on and set to a natural tone. I just bought one cus I love star trek and I needed a bedside light/lamp. Bit pricey but that's inflation for u.

Forget the others, The Wand Company stuff is awesome! Beautifully made with plenty of attention to geek level detail, at a very reasonable price. Love it

I have a few props from the wand company and this is another that doesn’t disappoint! Great fun and great bedside lamp for kids and grown ups a like.

Thought a review of this mood light would not go amiss. I bought the set from Amazon, and for the money it is a well thought out and unusual mood light, with a Star Trek theme.Nice touch that the mood light runs on batteries or from USB, and the phaser itself take 2 x AAA batteries.Plus points - the phaser is 100% accurate in terms of shape and size, by direct comparison to the Wand Company phaser remote.There are a lot of lifting effects available and the mood light provides a nice background light for indoors with colour of your choiceMinus pointsThe phaser itself is fully accurate but made for a cost, the rotary thumbwheel is hard moulded, does not turn, and the body is very light, feels 'plasticky' Compared the the Wand Company phaser remote, this phaser doesn't seem to have much 'heft' which is a shame,, but its all down to cost.The phaser one sound is fixed and very quiet, its a reasonable sample however, if you want to hear the sound, use it in a quiet room :-)

It's brightly illuminated with plenty of options to change the colour and intensity. All in all - good product.
