Stopped working but no physical damage
It stopped working. No physical damage to the cable. I keep the cable in box and never leave it outside.

High quality goods received ! ~ A purchase you will not regret.
This product is without question TOP QUALITY. Feels durable and strong. Cable should last a lifetime... The Perfect solution for Console connections from a new PC without the Serial connections. Frustration free as there aren't multiple converters from Serial to USB, No clutter... And the 10' length is perfect for access to the rack devices while allowing ample room for an IT Tech to get comfortable and sit. Great for permanent Rollover setups to leave in the rack as well, allowing remote offsite access once installed correctly if you are so inclined. Really can't beat the color over the BABY BLUE Cisco cables. This is ready to use right out of the box. (May need drivers at cablerack.com/ drivers) FYI - Make sure your Port settings are correct for the type of device you are trying to access... Port settings and PuTTy/Telnet setting are separate and should both be configured. ROCK SOLID Customer service. Ted at CableRack.com was supper accommodating with help VIA the Website chat interface.

Love this cable
Unless you are lucky enough to have a serial port on your laptop you will love this USB consol cable; no more need for those annoying USB adaptors. I plug into Cisco & Brocade switches on a daily basis and the cable works flawlessly. I especially love that it uses the same com port every time.Just something to keep in mind..The length i chose might have been slightly short, especially if i was sitting on the floor and was plugged into a switch at the top of a cabinet but that was my fault. I also highly recommend you also copy the drivers that come in the CD to your laptop. If you happen to lend your cable to someone it won't just plug-in-play.Conclusion....Keep a close eye on your cable. I loved this cable, yes i said loved! past tense. Apparently others admired my cable too. One day i opened my work bag and my beloved cable was gone. I screamed nooooooo echoing through the whole data center so keep your within eyes reach!

It just works
I love this cable. I originally had one of the 6 ft blue usb console cables sold here, but it does after a few weeks.Pros: It's ten feet. I can sit away from the rack and still have enough cable. The end has a boot to protect the clip. The chip for it sits in the middle of the cable so that the USB end is a normal size. The cable is round, which I prefer.Cons: The cable is black instead of blue so it doesn't stand out as a console cable. That's really my only gripe...I have used this dozens of times on various Cisco switches and routers with no connection problems or driver issues. It just works well with Windows. My co-worker tried it with a MacBook and he like it as well. I have yet to try it in Linux though.

This resolved issues with putty & other telnet / ssh ...
This resolved issues with putty & other telnet / ssh gui's locking & shutting down the USB port (mainly on Dell's) when consoling into Cisco devices. I had tried a number of USB to serial that ultimately cause the USB ports to shut down & require 2 reboots to restore. Have to keep it in a locked drawer at work to keep my teammates from permanently borrowing it π ... before buying their own. The cable is well made, 10' is a versatile length for working in the DC.

Good product - just works!
I use this cable multiple days a week and have been for quite some time (over a year). I typically have to buy one or more of these USB to DB9 adapters per year because they always seem to fail. This has lasted longer than any other, very pleased with the direct USB to Cisco Serial pin-out configuration in the RJ45 end.
