QUICK TIP: If your Wemo device does not show up in the Wi-Fi search, try the following: Make sure that your iOS or Android device and the Wemo device is within the range of the router. Make sure that the Wemo device is plugged in to a power outlet. If it is already properly plugged in, try rebooting the Wemo device. Press the Reset button and start all over. Some Android versions have an option enabled called Smart Network Switch or sometimes called Mobile Network Switch and Auto-switch to mobile network. This option allows your Android device to switch between saved Wi-Fi and data connections on its own. With this option enabled, your smart device may switch back to your saved Wi-Fi or data connections while you are performing the setup on your Wemo, causing the setup to fail. Before setting up your Wemo, it is recommended that you disable this feature.

couldn't get it to work
So I plugged it in, saw flashing lights, tried to connect and the phone did not see the network. Got online to see what others had done, reset it multiple times, moved to different outlets nothing. Called Belkin who said return it. Next morning just for grins plugged it in again, and this time my phone did see the network but it never connected (I have google) and I am returning it. I should have looked online to see which plugs work best with google wifi and saved myself the trouble. Going to another brand because I need the plug.

Cool features with connection issue
Brought the refurbish unit in mint condition. Initial setup took a while. Once it's connected, it will show the real time watt value, refresh about every 15-20 second. Timer, schedule, away mode, rules, export data...etc, lots of cool features.Now the down side is, the apps constantly showing "not detected",and the device will greyed out in the app and that's it. When it is in "not detected", you cannot access it at all!! It could be 30 seconds, 15 minutes, couple hours, totally random. First few days I was frustrated but then I confirmed it would still operate according to the existing settings and record energy usage accurately. The main reason I purchased this is to monitor an appliance energy usage in detail which other brands do not offer such function. If if you do not need the energy monitor function then go with other brands, my other TP Link switches have never drop out and very easy to set up. Also router reset/reboot will require physically unplug and replug the switch from the receptacle

Inconsistent server connection
It seems like the hardware is fine, but all data is piped through their servers which have consistency issues.During server down time, you cannot see or control your devices at all from the app (but schedules still work since they are saved locally). App also is quite buggy, some settings revert after saving, and the customer service feature has never worked for me.I now use it for the occasional power metering and hope the service is available.

Good for monitoring power usage, one glaring flaw.
Does what it's supposed to, but it has one issue that drives me nuts and almost cost us a good bit of money.I used this to monitor a freezer's power usage, but the power to the house went out at some point, and the Wemo defaults to off, so we almost lost our freezer full of food. It really needs a way to set a default state of on/off after a reboot since you could monitor something that needs to stay on.

Remote access stops working and
Remote access stopped working after half the day and won’t enable again. I’ve found countless reviews online of other people having the same issue when trying to use Wemo products with google assistant or amazon Alexa.

Does not recover from power outages.
I don't like the fact that the plug doesn't turn itself back on after a power outage. Not a configurable feature. The TP-Link HS110 plug does this.

Device does not turn on
The device has a certified refurbished sticker on it but when i plug it in no joy. The LED light indicator on the device does not turn on either. Someone took the time to stamp the words 'certified refurbished' all over the box and device but clearly didn't even test it.

It can be used with Google assistant
It is great to control my heater with my Google voice. Perhaps, the app didn't let me set the residencial Time of use rate or even any rate.. I can't get a real cost ; it was one of my points of decision. Still it is ok product and I can trust on it to turn it on / off remotely.
