Lots of good information but nothing about prices, where to buy or who to buy from
If like most people a first thing you want to want to know about a purchase is: what will it cost ; do not buy What You Need to Know to Start Earning Tax Free Income Municipal Bonds. That fundamental information is nowhere explained. In large friendly letters Robert A. Harbeke,CFP has prepared an information dense booklet pamphlet of about 30 pages. Much of each page is blank space. To be fair the information that is presented is generally well defined and therefore helpful. Even so there is unevenness in the writers assumption of your background and some investment terms are left undefined. Much of the discussion in this book is about risk yet we're told to expect about one default on a bond per year. It would be nice to know how many bonds are issued each year but this is enough information to suspect that even a very low grade bond is a relatively safe investment. Again it might be nice to have some information about the relative safety of other investment instruments but that is also not in this booklet. There is significant discussion about what might influence the cost of the bond with the conclusion that in certain circumstances the bond might cost 112 and other circumstances 105. What were not told if that is $100 per bond, one per thousand invested or simply some kind of percentage calculation independent of whatever fees bond sellers may charge. Even if there are wide variations in what bond sellers charge bond buyers a table of calculations with some direct discussion of why so much variation might be helpful. There is virtually no discussion of who a potential buyer should select to advise them on bond purchases where these people might be found with job titles they might have or what risks might be associated with a in Internet bond purchase. This booklet is a lot less than what you need to know. It is marginally satisfactory as a first stop towards making an informed purchase. But if you're going to buy a book that does nothing more than convince you, you needed to buy a more expensive book; perhaps the best advice I can give you is to buy that more expensive book and skip this one.

Great Primer ONI Municipal Bonds
This book on municipal bonds is an excellent resource for beginners, seasoned muni bond investors, or just those seeking information. The chapters are laid out to guide you through the process of learning about municipal bonds, studying potential returns, and how to buy and sell them. The tables were also very helpful in comparing rates of return between taxable and tax free instruments. It's a quick read packed with information.I did not know there were so many types of risk (credit, interest rate, call, event, liquidity, economic, enhancement, and reinvestment). The book quickly explains these in layman's terms.Municipal Bonds - What You Need To Know To Start Earning Tax-Free Income, is a must for everyone even thinking about investing in Municipal Bonds.

Take your time, Its a lot to take in.
Incredibility short book, but packed thick with information. Requires reading multiple times. Zero links to web-sights in the pages. But for the price this book is a great jumping off point.

This book is a perfect combination of the overview, language and depth I need to make informed decisions on municipal bonds
Being an amateur investor looking to go deeper into investment strategies and other options, I really enjoyed the book. Robert uses lots of chart comparisons which make it easy to breeze through for his "bottom line" ideas, but the chapters are easy enough for me to read completely through. As a self-reliant investor, this book is a perfect combination of the overview, language and depth I need to make informed decisions on municipal bonds and why they are good to have in the mix.

Excellent primer into municipal bonds
Excellent primer for anyone wanting to know the what, how, when and why of investing in municipal bonds. This coupled with an advisor who specializes in municipal bonds, should give anyone confidence in their knowledge of the product and in their decision making ability.

Excellent Introduction to Munis
This was an excellent short book which you can read in 30 minutes. I think it's great for the novice, and it's also very good for experienced investors who are looking to expand into municipal bonds. The author does a fantastic job keeping things simple, it's easy reading without any filler, and he even provides his email address.

Okay but just the surface
This book only touched on topics without much depth, not what I had hoped for, disappointed. I did not find the depth that other reviewers claimed.
