Halls 2 Tier Greenhouse Staging - Green

This 2-tier greenhouse staging from Halls is a sturdy 100% metal structure when assembled, let down by possibly the worst assembly instructions of any product I ever encountered.It arrived in an enormous shipping box - think large cupboard or fridge - with only 5% of the interior volume occupied by the product, which has dozens of straight metal parts and 76 (yes, seventy-six) separate nuts and bolts. Lay aside a couple of hours at least for assembly because the poorly designed “instruction leaflet”, 4x A4 pages photocopied and stapled together with poor illustrations and no written instructions, will not help you much. Note: if you’re of the generation who had a Meccano set as a child, you might have a marginal advantage in bolting it together. It’s critical to assemble some struts facing this way and not that way, for instance, but the instructions give no indication of this and you only find out later in the assembly process and then have to undo everything and re-assemble it the other way for the finished product to stand up properly.When you finally get the thing assembled, it’s a good staging table which will probably last forever. I chose the variant sprayed green, but you can buy one in natural aluminium for a bit less money.

Good quality item, built to last.The assembled sizes are 1210mm (47.5/8") long, 525mm (20.3/4") wide, and 762mm (30") high.

Ordered on Sunday on Amazon Prime and was to have been delivered on Tuesday; eventually turned up on Thursday having been on a sight-seeing tour of Goole in the interim! The product is good and sturdy and a perfect addition to the Halls Greenhouse. Such a pity about the delivery; we have used Amazon Prime on numerous occasions without problem, but the experience of this and the log edging I also ordered on Amazon Prime has left me wondering whether or not to use it again (having lost income due to being at home for three days waiting for it to arrive).

I didn't like the scrappy written instructions and the pictures were too small. Also one of the extruded channels had been bent out of shape and required some fettling to make it fit in place.Anyone who has used cropped bolts before would know how they fitted into the channels, but for new-comers it took time to work it out. I had two strips left over, but there were no more bolts. It seems to stand ok without them.Feet could do with some stop ends to prevent them sinking into soft ground.

What over-engineered nonsense. This thing comes with 78 nuts and bolts, mainly due to each slat requiring a single bolt at each end instead of them engineering groves that this could have slotted into. The slots were fiddly to line up and the instructions were hard to read.This took way longer to assemble than it should have done and even when it it now assembled with the correct number of parts, which were not in the original shipment, it still flexes slightly about itself.Good value for the price, but they haven't made this thing easy to assemble.

The instructions are not the best. The illustration shown in the instructions can not be used as a guide as it fails to show one of the end support bars. It just requires a little extra thought to figure out where the extra piece needs to go. I suggest you count all components before you start constructing. We were missing a few bolts, but fortunately we had some so we could complete the construction without having to request more bolts.

This high quality product was let down by the instructions. One needed to be Sherlock Holmes to make sense of them, particularly as the pages were for a one tier staging rather than the two tier I had purchased. Having figured it though everything slotted together very well. the second unit took a quarter of the time to assemble. I have written to the manufacturers about their instructions.

Excellent accompaniment to my Halls greenhouse. No difficulties of assembly and makes the interior both neat and makes good use of space
