2nd graders LOVE it!
This book arrived this morning and the kids in my 2nd grade class spend a solid hour browsing it and didn't make it even halfway through. This is one of the most fascinating nonfiction books I have ever seen: Each page has a world map with different aspect of geography: tectonic plates, earthquakes, volcanoes, mountains, ocean floor, mountains...the connections between different features becomes very clear. there's a page on meteor strikes, predators, dinosaur fossils, extinct animals...this is a dense and super-engaging geography book, and the only problem that i can see so far is that everyone in the class wants to read it at the same time. kids are usually fascinated by maps and atlases and this is the best one i've ever seen!update: I now have three copies because the kids LOVE it.

OLD VERSION
My son had a copy of this book that he absolutely adores (he got it when he was 6, currently 8). He loved it so much it had basically fallen apart. So, we decided to replace it and get some similar books to encourage independent reading (he is one of those kids who likes “non fiction reference books”- go figure). 😂 Turns out this is the old version, and I’d you get the newer atlas it hs a lot of duplicate pages (so we’re returning it). I tried to research before buying it again, as I was worried about this very issue, but the way the products were described, I thought they would be different. At this point, I’d say go with the newer versions! However, this book in and of itself is wonderful. He loves it, and learned so much. During quiet time and at bed time he looks over each page, wanting to discuss the highest roller coaster or what poisonous animals we do/don’t have to worry about…

Visual and readable
Really liked this book. Every 2-page spread shows the continents and/or oceans and locations of specific things for that page. There are pages resources, for showing temperatures, rivers, even for locating the ocean's trash dumps of plastic. The maps are all different, drawn to reflect whatever it is they are showcasing.I got it to preview for some homeschooling. After reading through it, though, I think a lot of would be neat pictures for kids up to junior high. After that, they could understand it better. It is a very interesting book to read, and to just look through.

Maps
For a Geography book, I'm disappointed that the only country map is inside the front cover - I guess I had hoped for a few more "location" spreads.

Really imformative and interesting.
Pictures, maps, and graphs not only catch your eye, but also really educate the reader, no matter the age. It informs you of the world's billionaires, to each countries' history. Easy to understand and really cool.

Great book! Perfect Gift for My Teenage Son. Good graphics & Interesting facts.
Love this book!!! This was a gift for my teenage son who loves to learn about facts and the world. He loves to play games on his phone, so THIS book was a special surprise as it drew him away from his phone. He can spend so much time studying each page. He especially appreciated the section on volcanos and was talking about the ring of fire. Of several nice Christmas gifts, this was his favorite!

Great for 11 - 13 year olds.
I loved that everyone in the house loved looking at this book after the wrapping came off. Great for hard to shop for kids who have all the sports gear and are hard to buy for.
