Great value
This filter has lasted for 10 years with two red eared sliders in a 40 gallon tank. Runs without any problems. The suction cups have worn out but pump and filter are still going strong. Can run for months without needing cleaned and it's very easy to do. Suction is good. Gave up on the surface skimmer feature.

Way better than I expected for the price!!!
Let me start of by saying I've started in the aquarium hobby in 1982 and have kept fish (fresh and salt) continuously since then. I am currently a breeder. I have always been some what of a "filter snob" . I ONLY USE EHEIM canister filters. I have owned several and currently own 2 X 2215's (yes they're old but they're EHEIM's and they still work great. I have started breeding Super Red Bristlenose Pleco's. If you have never had these I can't convey how much they poop! I had one of my Eheim 2215's on a 15 gallon grow out tank trying to keep it clean. I had to clean it once a week because of the zucchini "stuff" in the water from feeding. I set up a 20 gallon breeding tank for the adults. I moved the 2215 over to it. Again, I have to service it weekly or it completely clogs up. Decide to try one of these "SunSun" canister filters back on the 15 gallon. I read the instructions, installed the hoses and media as required, hooked it all up, plugged it in and IT WORKED PERFECTLY. No leaks, no noise, and a the next morning the tank was crystal clear. I let it run for almost a month before I noticed the output slowing down A LITTLE. Decided to clean it today. WOW! It was full of "stuff". The "toggle" release for the hoses was great and removing the trays to clean the individual media was very easy. Filled up the canister before reconnecting the hoses, pumped the "prime button" and it took off running again. VERY pleased with it's performance so far and will be ordering another one this week. I read all of the Pro and Con reviews before ordering and said "for $50 I can't replace the hoses and connectors on 1 of my Eheims so what do I have to lose?" Maybe I just got lucky and got a "good" one. Don't know, don't care. I'm still going to order another one :-). Will it keep a 75 gallon clean? Probably not. I would think MAYBE a 55 AT MOST but for anything smaller it works way better than I expected for the price! A good bargain!

Great filter great price super happy!
I have had the SunSun for over two months now. Its is setup on a 55 gal. tank with bottom filters. My old Ehiem filter died, could not get parts. Replacement with Ehiem twice the cost of Sunsun. So after reading all the good reviews I went for it. I was a little surprised at the size of it at first. Its not small. But found a spot for it, so not an issue for me. My tank was pretty bad, running on one old backup filter for about a month while I tried to get parts. Since Eheim was so old they didn't supply parts any more. Anyway it arrived on time well packed and setup was simple. Although instructions were not great. Chinese to English translations don't always work well. But really not an issue. My tank smelled bad! In 5 days there was a huge improvement in water quality. After two weeks smell completely gone. That's impressive. Yes I could of done water changes, but didn't just to see if the filter was up to par. All parts made well, housing, trays tubing etc. Overall great filter for 1/2 the price of the others. Motor super quiet can't hear a thing. I would recommend this to anyone looking for low maintenance quiet filter. Note the dimensions of unit to make sure it fits.

I was expecting FAR worse, but the casing itself feels pretty sturdy and ...
At first I was Leary trusting this filter because its a "budget" filter, and granted its still only been a few days, but I am impressed with the initial start up. After reading reviews of it being cheap plastic, I was expecting FAR worse, but the casing itself feels pretty sturdy and even the intake and return pieces don't really feel that flimsy.. they fit together pretty snug actually. after reading reviews like I said I was expecting a lot worse quality plastic for the price. It is really quite.. when they say you cant even hear it running, its true. It sits pretty firm and doesn't have any wobble or vibration to it at all. I built my stand for a 55gal about 37" tall and with the tank height added the filter has no problem overcoming the head pressure at an total of 58" tall. It doesn't have any kind of overwhelming output from the spray bar.. on my 55 anyways, but it is ample, I even have an hydor nano 425 powerhead in the tank as well and you cant even feel the current on your hand half way across the tank, although it does circulate the water, I just wouldn't describe it as a powerful flow, and wouldn't use it on any tank bigger than a 55 gal. The media trays have ample room for any kind of media you would ever need.. I am running the course pad, fine pad and 100 micron felt polishing pad with purigen and then the bio balls and rings. The only issue I had was taking the top off the canister.. the front and back latches are seemingly secondary, the side latches however are the ones that hold it together, I had a little difficulty getting it off the first time and was scared to break the latches, maybe itll loosen up a little when it breaks in after a few cleanings, but it does fit snug and so far no leaks. The hoses are of fine quality and the connections are fine if you just tighten them down. This was my first canister and I figured it out without much difficulty.. the directions are a crap shoot but you should be able to figure it out without even having to look to be honest, one is an intake, one is an outtake.... they are labeled in and out and two separate pieces..

Worked great at first
I've had this thing for 7 months and the last few weeks I've had to clean the tank every other day where I used to go like every few weeks with out having to clean it. This is after I've replaced the filters inside. Idk what to do but I ended up getting a different cannister filter because the whole apartment smells nasty the next day after cleaning the tank
