I passed the first time. I recommend this book.
Unless you are an English teacher or the like you may find the first chapter of this book to be a little overwhelming. I certainly did. Keep plugging at it. Then read it again. It will make better sense the second time.I felt like the book prepared me pretty well for the test. Of course, every test is different so YOUR results may differ but I recommend that you go for it!

Excellent Study Guide
I bought this study guide to prepare for my ESOL exam. The material in this book is most definitely found on the exams, therefore you know exactly what to expect once you take it. The sample tests at the end of this book are a great way to ensure you do well on the test. I highly recommend this study guide!

Confusing, full of errors and ambiguities
The text at first sight is well organized, but when reading it, I was often left with more questions. Paragraphs repeat the headings that basically repeat the item listed in the personalized study plan. In several sections the definitions in the beginning are good, but the chapter then quickly fades and leaves the reader with no usable information. The bubbles on the margins basically reprint information from the text, even typos are reproduced. There are serious mistakes in factual information. Just to bring one example, the book states that Arabic is a logographic language.I have taken the test, and when I compare the quality of questions in the Praxis book and the pdf available on the ETS website, I can say that questions by ETS have higher clarity and lower level of ambiguity. They also closer resembled the focus and language of the actual test. This book would serve neither beginner nor experienced educators in preparing for the exam.

It's the best book I've seen around
I'm still using this book to study for my test, but it clearly lays out the information needed. It's also helpful to have the online resource to prepare for the listening portion of the PRAXIS. It's the best book I've seen around.

Good practice guide
I found this book to be a good practice for someone taking the PraxisII for ESOL. It covers all the areas for testing and was a good review for me. I feel it helped me on my test.

Must have for ESOL Praxis!!
Very comprehensive and had everything I needed to study. The only downside was there was no audio. But I passed the test!!

Okay, but you'll need more.
I just took the test last week and thankfully I passed on the first try. I have read this book cover to cover, and thought I was well prepared after having successfully passed the practice test included in the book. Thankfully, I thought I'd take extra cautionary measure and purchase the digital Praxis test sold by ETS. I was really surprised to find that much of the content found on the test by ETS was nowhere to be found in this book. So I quickly researched all the material I wasn't familiar with and was pleasantly surprised that most of it was on the test. The lesson learned here is that, although the book presents a lot of useful content, it seems to simply list topics. In order to pass the test you will need to research these topics further and be able to apply them.I would say to use this book to supplement whatever other method you use. At this point I would recommend making ETS resources your primary source for test preparation.
