Penn over everything everytime.
I've had my 6500 ll for 6 years now and I have landed 100s of carp with the largest of them pushing over 35 inches. The reel just performs. Using the live liner feature while bottom fishing has increased my hookup ratio tremendously. I don't have to worry about my rod getting snatched in either. Just drop the latch and it's good to go. I bottom fish off of power dams and in moderate current on the flint river with it from spring to fall and it just performs consistently. I can't recommend the 6500 enough it'd probably be uncomfortable using to target fish with but it's not made for that it's made to throw your bait, set it, and forget it. Pair it with 30lb braid and casting will be effortless. You'll go from fighting fish to working the fish in. The only thing you'll be worrying about is not ripping the hook out from to much tension. Get your confidence back when it comes to landing those larger fish buy the reel you won't be disappointed.

bait runner feature
Bait runner feature works great just a tad bit too tight sometimes at the lowest settings, can be adjusted but not that much. Best coarse of action to lighten the secondary drag would be to service the secondary drag or remove a washer. Reel feels solid works great
