STAEDTLER Mechanical pencil 925 25 for writing, drawing & drafting with metal barrel in 2.0 mm

I've been looking for the perfect pencil and I think this is it! The feel of the all metal body is amazing and love the auto advance which you dont see often on 2mm lead pencils

This is a truly high quality mechanical pencil, one of the few 2mm versions that use a click advance system as opposed to the more common (for 2mm) clutch method. Personally I like both types, there is something satisfying in the simplicity of a straight forward clutch pencil, both methods have their appeal.Given that the 925 25-20 is a mechanical pencil rather than a clutch I think it should be compared to the likes of the Rotring Rapid Pro 2.0 and not something like the Rotring 600 2.0.The Staedtler is a fine pencil, nicely made and all metal - the end cap is metal too (on mine certainly). It looks to be aluminium and not plastic as suggested in another review; perhaps there is some variation on the material used at various times? The inner tube appears to be made from brass.Proportinally it is very similar the the Rapid Pro, a slightly shorter knurled grip area but of similar roughness and giving a comfortable hold. The Staedtler feels slightly lighter in the hand than the Rapid Pro but it is nicely balanced. One advantage that this pencil has over the Rapid Pro is the addition of a lead hardness indicator (4H - 4B) which also locks in place, much better than the loose, free spinning indicator you sometimes get.Overall the build quality, materials, mechanism, and comfort in use are every bit as good as the Rapid Pro.At the typical UK price it is a great pencil and a worthy option to any Rotring model, at the price paid here it is an absolute bargain. My pencil was delivered from Japan in 14 days, definitely worth the wait.

This pencil feels so good in the hand and I can write or draw with it for long periods without discomfort.The "digital" lead release mechanism works perfectly on every click.The classic design is modern, attractive and highly functional.The perfect product.

Der Stift ist komplett aus Metall! Sowohl das Mittelgehäuse als auch der vordere Verschluss! Die Mechanik ist aus Messing, der Rest teilweise massives Alu. Das Gewinde ist hochqualitativ und es gibt kein Spiel. Mit hochqualitativ meine ich, dass sowohl das vordere Teil als auch der Schaft halbwegs dick sind! Also kein Blechstift wie die Graphgears z. B.. Noch interessanter: selbst die sündteuren "Rotringe" haben nur noch Plastikgewinde verbaut und sind nicht so hochwertig wie dieser Staedtler! Ich habe einen Rotring 600, der hat schon ein präzises Metallgewinde, aber selbst der wirkt nicht so hochwertig wie der Staedtler, und den 600er gibt es nicht in 2mm, soviel ich weiß. Da muss man zum Rapid Pro oder 800er. Der neue 800er hat aber ein eher billiges Gewinde, hatte einen 800plus, brach ab (das kann mit dicken Präzisionsgewinde beim Staedtler nicht passieren). Ja, für Freaks wie mich ist sowas wichtig. Hochgradig empfehlenswerter Stift, für den Preis werde ich mir ein paar auf Pager zulegen - die Qualität der diversen Hersteller wird ja gefühlt immer schlechter. Dass man diesen Stift nur in Japan kriegt ist echt traurig. Top Gerät, hat mich heute extrem positiv überrascht!

Good quality. Nice and solid except for opposite end to lead point. This is a bit cheap compared to rest of pencil.If only there was an inbuilt sharpener!However, for the price I will still give it 4 stars

Very happy with this pencil. I have several 780 C's but I find the 2B leads, which I use occasionally, are a bit stiff and difficult to get out (as the 780 C relies on gravity). Whilst I still find the 2B leads to be a bit stiff to get in, the "click" mechanism of this pencil makes them much easier to use. The window showing the grade of the lead installed in the pencil is a nice touch. They also come in dark blue and I may invest in another one. Recommended.
