EVO SS Wearable Gimbal Action Camera Stabilizer for GoPro Hero4 Hero5 Hero7 Black, Yi 4K, Garmin Virb Ultra 30 - for Mounted or Handheld Use

Wow I like this product. I've been using it on the extension pole it comes with, but just tried it on my chesty yesterday. It does a really nice job of smoothing out the imaging. I wish I bought one with a Hero 5 attachment and hate to spend more money on one, but so far worth the money and I'm gonna stick with this product. Compared to the other gimbal I tried (Feiyu-Tech), this comes ready out of the box and is easy to use. A little annoying to pull out the phone to readjust the set point for the camera (via Bluetooth - haven't had an issue connecting it at 15 degrees on the side of a mountain), but I guess that's inescapable for this type of product. There is no joystick on this mountable model, but that intuitively makes sense. Battery lasts long in the cold (compared to GoPro) and you can charge your GoPro. Only negative are the little connector wires - though they've stayed put, one came with a missing cord so I don't know if it was just a defective arrival or in the shuffle of pulling things out and looking at them it fell off somehow. If you have the wire plugged in to charge and have an LCD attachment to your Hero 3 (my situation, obviously), you lose the LCD image. So I pull out the wires when setting the angle for the gimbal to maintain, then plug it back in before I get started so the GoPro has extra juice. Not a big deal, and I don't know if it is the same issue with the Hero 5. Batteries charge quickly and I like the independent indicator light. I've used it mostly in the snow, crashed more than once, and it's held up despite the cold and mild wetness. Super happy with the purchase. Would do it again and definitely recommend.

Awesome product based on my limited use. I have a trip to bora bora next week and wanted smoother GoPro footage to mix in with my dslr footage. My test videos are nothing less than perfect. I was able to order the hero5 black adapter from Amazon and works great. One minor drawback, as others has mentioned is the motor noise being picked up by the GoPro. Not the gimbal's fault but a design flaw on the hero 5 mic layout. It doesn't bother me since I'll be overlaying my own sound. Will post a follow up once I'm back in the states.

If you're into taking stabilized video, this item is for you. I use it to take aerial video from remote controlled model airplanes/sailplanes. It's simply superb and works great. I use it with a legacy GoPro Hero 3+ Black video camera and I'm delighted with the overall performance. The battery life is great. The only gripe I have with it is that it doesn't take the up/down shake out of the video that is recorded when you're walking or jogging. It helps but it doesn't eliminate it completely. Overall, I'm pleased with its performance.

Great devices, very stable. Unfortunately does not work with newer GoPro models.

Updated 2 - now the company wants a video of the gimbal. Instead of having me send it in, they are doing everything they can to distances themselves from the problem. They claim that if sweat got in it, or water, it would not be covered by the "waranty". The bottom line here is - there is no "waranty". They do not stand behind their product.Update: My gimbal lasted about 8 months. It no longer pans or stays straight. I attempted to calibrate it with their calibration tool, but that did not work. I wrote them about the problem. They have replied once with no help and now refuse to reply at all. I now and the proud owner of a $279.00 paper weight. BUYER BEWARE of this company.If there were batteries readily available for this Gimbal, I would have given it a 5. But the bottom line is, you get 4 batteries with about 4 1/2 hour run time combined and then you are finished. The batteries are only available from EVO, although B&H Photo and Adorama carry the EVO brand batteries, the bottom line is these batteries are specific to the EVO Gimbal, you are not going to get them any place else. Even Batteries Plus doesn't carry them and cannot get them.Stabilizing the gimbal. If you are going to use this on a mountain bike, teh GoPro chesty isn't going to cut it. It bounces too much. You can put an additional strap across the top of the chesty mount to help, or, you can get the mountain bike chest protector they recommend for another 60 bucks and wear that. Should be a real joy in the summer. Amazon also sells the Stuntman chest mount, which I think will work better than the GoPro one. I have one on order and we will see.Overall I am pleased with how it works, but again, the battery situation is not good.

So I bought this and a Hero7 to tackle my mountain bike video goals. Evaluating both. It's a great gimbal and does everything you'd expect for stabilization. Handled table-top jumps and drops with nary a stutter. I have one deal breaker with this gimbal. It does not allow the go pro to record good sound. On a Hero5 and Hero7 the stepper motor noise is awful in most modes. It's so loud. And all other sound is as if it's coming from under water and heavily muted. I tried all the settings I could think of and fudging with the mounting clamp (that covers one mic hole). If you set the Hero to Wind-Noise mode, then you at least get some audio you can hear. If that audio is pretty loud, say at a concert or park, then it'd probably be okay. Regardless, I suspect this is a problem with any gimbal and a go pro. Testing with just super-smooth stabilization was just as good a video for me. Better perhaps since the camera pivots with my chest mount rather than waiting on the gimbal PID loop to bring it around.

Awful with GoPro Hero5 and above.I bought this Evo SS Gimbal with the intention of using it for my MTB videos on a Chest mount.Stay away from this gimbal unless you’re running a Hero Session or Hero 4 Black. It’s just a Chinese Gimbal rebranded with an American name and slightly different firmware.Despite what Evo claim on their website it is not compatible with the later GoPro’s which are heavier like the Hero 5 Black I tested leading to small vibrations in the footage which make it unusable or the gimbal twisting to one side on bumps because of the poor weight distribution despite the suggested counterweight being installed!!With the Hero Session the performance was much better but the audio is still a big issue so again, not really fit for purpose especially now that the GoPro cameras have excellent stabilisation!The noise from the motors ruins the sound of the video and is extremely annoying which means you’ll likely need an audio recorder like a Zoom h1n to record audio separately if you want good quality audio.You’re honestly better off simplifying your set up and running a Stuntman Go pro Chest mount and your camera with stabilisation on.I ended up buying a Hero 8 and now I use that with the chest mount mentioned above and it offers quality, dynamic, stable footage!

The mountain biking footage I took the first day using the gimbal makes almost all my other GoPro footage un-watchable.I mounted it to the top of my helmet and the results were spectacular.
