Impossible to get it working under Windows 10
It arrived today, and was returned today!I use Windows 10 and I know my way around computers, so I followed the installation instructions to the letter (right-clicking on the installation file and firing up as admin. etc. etc.) and it installed fine. It then started to work fine - until I changed the video resolution. Then I just got many horizontal lines over a tiled image. I changed the resolution back - still the same. I uninstalled and re-installed (having cleared the registry entries) 3 times - still the same. I even altered the designated graphics drivers - I just couldn't get rid of the bad display. Ironically, when I took a picture - it came out fine, but you couldn't see what you were taking a picture of!And the unit has a zoom and a snap button on the side - these do absolutely nothing, and they should. So the software needs some more work.

Excellent buy!
We bought this for our 7 yr old son who absolutely loves it! He had a traditional microscope costing 3 times the price and it wasn't very good with actual objects. This however is amazingly good for the price and the quality of the magnified images is awesome! The fact that you can view the objects on a full size PC screen makes it the best and the ease of use combined with the light settings make this a must. Up to now we have magnified a dog biscuit, hair, sugar, a dead fly and a walking greenfly (which was sightly terrifying!) Brilliant product - would definitely recommend.

Portable USB Digital Microscope 20x-800x Magnification 8-LED Mini Microscope Endoscope Camera Magnifier with Stand
I have owned a similar old Veho one for many years but now unfortunately, it no longer has software that works with Windows 7. This one has extras such as the ability to dim the light. It's just as fiddly to set up and focus. Some software has to be downloaded from oasisscientific.com (Address given in the Product Description). and the software is not as user friendly as was with the Veho but at least it works both with windows 7 and with 10. The main advantage is that it's cheap and it seems to work well.

Good Value But.....
This microscope is very good for the price. The software loaded without any problems on a Windows 8.1 64 bit PC and the quality of the images is surprisingly good. It is ideal for my intended use as an aid for inspecting homemade printed circuit boards. It is very revealing though - I had no idea my soldering was so bad !! The BIG downside of this product though is the light wobbly stand - it is totally useless and a bit of a joke. Having said that, it is still a snip at this price and it should be possible to engineer a more rigid stand with a bit of ingenuity.

Good for the most part, bad in areas. Great value though.
Only received this today as of this review, but have used it extensively already to give a review.Good points - quite a good magnification and clarity, led lights very bright and controllable which is useful, able to switch resolution in the camera software you use & turn it way up or down depending on preference (although Im not totally sure how much it is simply 'blowing up' the image - it looked pretty clear and sharp even when I increased resolution up to 720p).Bad points (though not necessarily bad as such, but a mix of poor or could have been better!). Stand is useless - i had to tape it down at the back to stop it falling over! The microscope part doesnt sit very securely in the stand - and tends to move around alot when you touch it. The focus adjusting dial isnt really for changing 20x to 800x - its just for , well, focus purposes - but is a nightmare trying to focus when the whole stand and camera wobbles and you keep missing your focussed point. I also had trouble getting the microscope to work as windows (10 for me), wouldnt let me use it due to an unsigned driver - i had to boot up my windows in 'accept unsigned drivers' mode.Overall it gets a decent score because the magnification and microscope in general give some very detailed closeups on things (focussing is easy when you hand hold the unit and go round viewing things in close up detail!). Taking pics and recording video works pretty well (although the higher the res i set capture , the more stuttery it got on playback - not sure if thats a downside of the unit or maybe my fault, not sure!).Recommended if you want a cheap product that does a decent job and you just want to play around with a first time microscope, you can't go too wrong really. (all the scopes at this price range appear to be all the same thing!).

Faulty product?
I don't know if it's just me who has received a clearly faulty microscope but this is a piece of junk. The supplied installation disc triggered a number of warnings from my virus protection and the video is totally unviewable. Maybe I have received a faulty product and everyone else is satisfied but I will be returning this to Amazon.
