Five Stars
Fits Detex alarm - Schlage keyway

Does the job
I combined this with very old Yale garage lock mechanisms. Although the cylinder is not of the highest quality and made overseas, it does work effectively and looks good from the exterior of the garage.

Keyway looks like Schlage but an actual Schlage key won't fit in ...
Typical cheap rim cylinder. Keyway looks like Schlage but an actual Schlage key won't fit in the keyway. An Lowes brand duplicate key just fits in. Standard length pins won't re-pin it either. Not worth the effort to repackage and return for $7.00. If you don't need to re-key it, I guess it is ok.

Good value, hard to rekey
I bought the U 9966 lock core so I could make all the doors on the house use the same Schlage-style key. This unit replaced the Quikset-style core on a cheap jimmy-proof lock we use on one door (similar to "NU-SET 2120-3 Jimmy Proof" lock sold on Amazon). The U 9966 isn't particularly well-made, but it's no worse the one it replaced, and it's a good price. However, rekeying this lock proved to be a bit challenging. It looked okay while I was putting the new pins in, but on inserting the cylinder back into the body of the lock, I found that I could not turn the key. This was very frustrating, as it also made the cylinder almost impossible to get back out. I eventually got it apart and found that that key overhangs the bottom of the slot slightly, so that when cylinder is in the body of the lock the key sits slightly higher in the slot than it should. A locksmith would have no problem rekeying this lock, because she would have a large selection of pins of different sizes and could choose exactly the right lengths. However, I had bought a rekeying kit that included only the exact five pins for standard Schlage locks. I fixed the problem by filing down the pins slightly, and by slightly rounding the shoulders on the top of the pins. This makes the lock less secure, but it made the lock more forgiving.

Can not be re-keyed with Kwikset/Schlage cylinder.
Can not be re-keyed with Kwikset nor Schlage plug follower. This makes it impossible for me to re-key it at all makes it useless to me.

Decent rim cylinder, but couldn't re-key
Seems to be well made. I bought them specifically to re-key, but I ran into problems. The cylinder bore was smaller than Schlage's standard, so the plastic cylinder tool that holds the upper pins in place (from the Ebay re-keying kit I had) didn't fit. I am not an expert, but I've had no trouble re-keying other Schlage locks - couldn't do this one.

Je suis bien content d'avoir trouvé cette piece de rechange, plusieurs quincailleries n'en vendent plus
