This is not for Lithium house batteries and AGM vehicle batteries.
Xantrex marketing states "Xantrex’s digital echo~charge is designed to charge auxiliary or starting batteries from an inverter/charger or other charging source with limited voltage drop. The Xantrex echo~charge detects when the house battery bank is being charged and directs a portion of the charge current to auxiliary or starting batteries. The maximum charger current offered by echo~charge is limited to 15 amps."This is basically a battery pack joiner and it states at the end of the manual that battery types should not be mixed.I've already installed but now have to install a "Smart charger."

A must have to keep your chassis battery charged while camping or plugged into AC Power
Product arrived on time and packaging was good. I needed this product for my RV, I have a class A gas coach. Installation was pretty easy. The instructions call for installation of this unit in a dry location close to both Coach and chassis batteries. Unfortunately both batteries for me are in open bays exposed to road moisture. I called Xantrex support and spoke with them about my delema. They recommended I mount the Echo on my floorboard next to my left leg and routed the wiring through the firewall to both batteries. The instructions say to use 12 gauge wire to extend the length of wire. For my application I needed a wire run of 8 feet from my coach batteries to the Echo and another 9-10 feet to my chassis battery from the Echo. Xantrex Tech support referenced a chart and recommended I use 8 gauge wire for the longer run, to reduce the voltage drop! So far the Echo is working as advertised, my chassis battery is remaining charged. We’ve been parked camping now for almost 3 weeks and my chassis battery is fully charged.I had to replace my chassis battery at the beginning of the season, when I had an oil change in June, the service center advised my battery was getting weak. My research led me to the Xantrex Echo to keep my chassis battery charged and its working as advertised. If you have any questions call Xantrex support, their number is in the instruction manual.

Quit working after a month.
Worked well at first month. Whenever house batteries (rv) were at 13.1 or above , unit would echo charge to chassis batteries. Now there is no charge to chassis battery thru xantrex echo charger. Request a return authorization. Don Conway

While this unit serves a purpose and is a nice electrical design there are several improvements that are needed
While this unit serves a purpose and is a nice electrical design there are several improvements that are needed. The fuses use the older style with the glass body and silver tipped ends. The contacts are made by spring tension, the holders are not the best sealed and the glass style fuses are fragile. They should use the newer plastic automotive fuse designs commonly available with a rubber capped sealed inline fuse holder. The other issue is by the length of the wiring harness these units get installed in RV battery compartments which is a hostile environment that needs to be rinsed out from time to time. The circuit boards of these units are not epoxy coated so the land patterns can corrode or be shorted by small amounts of splashed water. Be careful working with water around these units. These changes would make this a 5 star unit.

so Itasca started installing a charger like this on 2006 models and later
We were having issues with our engine batteries constantly draining in our 2005 Itasca Horizon motorhome. Turns out the engine computer creates a parasitic draw on the engine batteries, so Itasca started installing a charger like this on 2006 models and later. Install was pretty simple. We did have buy extra wires, since the attached wires were really short. Also, the wire gauge they recommended was a lot larger compared to the existing wires, so there weren't any standard connectors we could find at Lowes or Home Depot. We bought the heat shrink connectors and that worked fine. After installing, our engine batteries stay fully charged!

A Wonderful Device. Easy Installation.
Installed it on my RV to keep the starter battery charged via solar/ AGM house battery. The RV is sometimes in outside storage with no 110AC available for a conventional trickle charger. The Echo Charge works beautifully. And a very easy install: connections to chassis battery, house battery, ground.

Simple, easy way to keep chassis battery charged
If you have an RV, and your inverter/charger does not also charge your chassis battery; this is for you. Super easy to install, it just connects to both battery banks, and a ground. If your coach batteries are being charged, it will steal some power to keep the chassis batteries charged also.

Easy install, works as intended.

Does what it says, easy to install
Installed it as part of project to isolate starter and house batteries with an ON/OFF/COMBINE switch, was easy to install and just works. It will take whatever charging source is applied to a battery bank (typically house) and redistribute some of it another bank (typically starter) while maintaining complete isolation of battery banks.
