- Universal Typewriter Ribbons with Eyelets Combo Pack - 1/2" Wide Ribbon On 2 Inch Spool

I find old janky typewriters and clean them and fix them and almost always put a brand new FJA ribbon in them before I sell them. They are always consistent, inked well, and the universal spools have worked in so many machines! I basically buy this two-pac with every order I place on Amazon. In fact I have ordered them often enough that I might be responsible for Amazon now stocking them at the local warehouse rather than having FJA send them to me. My only complaint is I wish they had an option for a two-pack of the red/black. Not much of a complaint though, is it? Kudos to FJA on their excellent product.

I had to take my typewriter to a service store to find out how to reverse the ribbon. Turns out the plastic spool won't accomplish that automatically. I had to replace the plastic spool with a special metal one. Ribbon seems fine.

So they work super well, quality is very good, but in my experience they ran out very fast. I am unsure if I just type too often but they ran out very quickly it felt.

I installed this on my Olympia SM3, and anything with a closed loop in the letter (e.g. g, o, e, c, d, b, a, etc) is all filled in and looks horrible. This normally happens with cotton ribbons with smaller type font (I have 11 characters per inch). This might work better on a larger typeface, but I will not be ordering these again for my Olympia. Very messy looking and unusable.

The ribbons are a good replacement for the universal American spools. It has a nice impression and I have used them on many typewriters.

The special center caused it to pop right into an old Sears- roebuck typewriter I found. Ink, are dark and clear. Very pleased.

Hate to be negative because the ribbon seems fine, but the spools are too large for my portable Remington 5, even though a positive review said otherwise. Warning : Check and compare spool size. Transferring the ribbon isn't easy.

This ribbon is terrible. I just replaced the ribbon in my Corona 4 with this universal ribbon. I re-spooled it on the original hardware easily. The problem is the ink/ribbon itself. Instead of leaving a clear impression my typed letters seemed ‘outlined’ as if the ink is being pressed out from under the keys. It leaves lots of ink stay everywhere and my typewriter and letters are a mess :(

This was a lovely treat for someone who has a typewriter. Not easy to find, so I was delighted with purchase.

I have an old typewriter I like to use now and again. The ribbon dryed up and Amazon was the only place I could get replacement.

This may be stated as universal but it does not fit my type writer, an Optima typewriter
