Brilliant
Brilliant unit. The sound quality is excellent at this price point. Relatively easy to use if you ignore half the buttons as they will be useless. The build quality is really good and solid. Bluetooth linking is really easy which is a bonus. As a stand alone unit I would definitely recommend.

A great performing audio unit that looks high end
I Love the look (light oak) and even more so, love the sound. I have many quality audio products around my home, and this is certainly up there with the best of them. The sound quality is pure, with clear highs and lows and fills my kitchen with a lovely rich sound. All aspects of this unit perform really well, Dab, Bluetooth and most importantly for me, the CD player. It looks the business, the price was right, and I’m really happy with my purchase and would recommend this product.

Great sounding and looking radio and CD player, but...
Good points - Good and powerful sound. Looks good and although the footprint is quite large it's not too tall so would go on a shelf or in our case sits unobtrusively on the kitchen worktop. However there is a control wheel on the top - of which more later. Irritations - The user interface, by which I mean the buttons on the front of the machine and the remote control, is not intuitive. There are too many button presses to get to a particular action and anything you want to do needs a read through the instructions again. Also the CD starts again from the beginning (well mostly). It is advertised as having different equaliser setting for different types of music. I could discern no difference between them. There is a manual setting for bass and treble which does make a difference. That wheel on top of the unit... The front part of it controls the volume. As for the rest of it, I lost the will to live before I got to that bit in the instructions. Summary, great unit and inexpensive. If all you want to do is play a CD from beginning to end and/or listen to a couple of radio stations then it's easy. If you want to do more and value your sanity I suggest sitting down with the instructions for a while and making notes or using a highlighter.

Great machine but returned
This is a cracking little unit especially at this price point. I had a Bose wave cd player which was playing up so thought I'd try this one. Is it as good as the Bose? No of course not but it's pretty close. Sounds great and has several preset EQ's to choose from, or set your own. The control button on top of the unit is very good and a nice touch. Nice unit overall. Sounds good, looks good. I returned it because of a small but potentially annoying issue that would have irritated me more over time. The one thing that let's this unit down is the volume increments. 1 very quiet 2 too quiet 3 very loud compared to 2 4 was quieter than 3 5 was set where 4 should be. Real shame, as apart from that it's a lovely machine. May have been a one off with this issue but decided not to take the chance incase it was a batch issue and had to return another one. I would still highly recommend this unit though. Think I was unlucky. Hence the 5 stars still!

In my opinion, this is a quality item, good sound from small speakers, worth the money, and very pleased.

Very Pleased With This
Good sound, lots of options in the menu for tweaking it to your liking, fairly easy to use for an oldie like me too. Came with an instruction manual (although the box said it didn’t have one), which makes it easier. I wanted it for the kitchen, to play my old CD’s on. I bought a cheaper one first but the sound was too tinny. Sent it back for a refund and ordered this one instead and it didn’t disappoint. CD’s sound good. The DAB+ radio is great, it scans automatically when you first turn it on and saves the stations (and also sets it’s time clock, which saved me the bother). I didn’t think I’d use the radio, but it’s crystal clear and I’ve used it more than the CD player. I don’t normally get radio reception where I live, so pleasantly surprised it works so well. I haven’t tried the sleep or alarm functions, don’t need them in the kitchen. It’s got a port for charging your phone, which is handy. I think for the money it’s great value. NB: Don’t forget to register it to get your 3 year warranty.

Excellent sound, slightly unintuitive user interface.
Got this to replace an old Pure digital radio for the kitchen since Classic FM has moved to DAB+ and the old radio couldn't handle that. Also needed a CD player for some BBC comedy stuff. First the good bits. Sound is excellent will deep, powerful bass and crisp higher frequencies. Radio sounds absolutely superb with excellent stereo separation. As a bluetooth receiver it's also great, streaming seamlessly from my phone with no issue. There's also a couple of USB ports on the rear - one for music and one just for charging a phone which is a brilliant idea - you can plug the phone in and stream over bluetooth whilst it charges. There's also an Aux-In so I can plug Alexa into it and use it as a Spotify receiver. Middling bits: The top navigation wheel is a bit plasticky and wobbly and doesn't really match the superb build quality of the rest of the unit (which is really solid). By default it acts as a volume control but it can also be used to navigate around various menus. That brings us to... ... the bad bits. Navigating through hundreds of DAB radio stations is less slick than it should be. Getting the top wheel to get into "go through all stations" takes a key press on the remote (nothing does this on the front panel as far as I can see) and then spinning it quickly makes no difference to how fast you go through the stations. This is less of an issue once you've got all your favourites stored but even that is non-intuitive. On the Oakington you have to use the remote to go into "program" mode, navigate to the preset you want and then press and hold Play on the remote to store it. On that subject, the remote is brilliant though. Mind you, it has to be though given a lot of functions can only be accessed by using it. I suspect if you ever lose the remote you'd struggle! This is the first radio/speaker system I've owned where I've had to look through the manual to work out how to store presets. However, once it's all setup, the sound quality makes me forgive all of that. It really is a belter of a radio/speaker system.
