ergonomics, sharpness and ability to cut hard bread with ease
I purchased this knife because I bake my own bread, I like my bread very crusty so I needed a sufficient tool to handle that. Being frugal I did not want to spent a lot of money for a knife, in this case I do not think that more cost gets a better product. I researched my options and ordered. I can tell you that the knife is quite amazing. It goes through thick crust and dense dough as though through hot butter (mild joke). Seriously, do not hesitate on this knife, the price and the quality are fantastic.

Great Bread Cutter
This is a quality knife at an excellent price. It's well made and out of the package is well sharpened. It serves the purpose of bread cutting on many different types of bread, cutting quickly and you don't end up smashing the bread like you do with a less sharp knife.

Other Reviewers Were Right: It's a Fine Bread Knife
Nothing wrong with this bread knife. As other reviewers said, it's heavy, but not too heavy. Sharp. Cuts through the crust w/o crushing the softer insides. Certainly worth the price.

Cuts a sourdough like butter!!
5 Stars for the Mercer Culinary M23210 Bread Knife. Oh-where do I even begin with this serrated superstar? This knife doesn’t just cut bread; it performs a full-on Broadway musical number on your sourdough. With each slice, it sings, I’m gonna make you toast! and delivers clean, crumb-minimized cuts that would make a bakery jealous. The handle? It’s like shaking hands with a confident baker-firm, comfortable, and slightly flour-dusted (okay, that last part’s on me). I swear this knife has a PhD in ergonomics. It’s so easy to grip, I accidentally started slicing air just to keep the good vibes going. Now, let’s talk precision. This blade glides through crusty baguettes like a hot knife through… well, butter, obviously. I tried it on a loaf so dense it could’ve doubled as a doorstop, and it didn’t even blink. It just whispered, Challenge accepted, and left me with slices so perfect I considered framing them. Cleanup? A breeze. It’s dishwasher-safe, but I hand-wash it anyway because I’m convinced this knife deserves a spa day after its heroic feats. My only complaint? It’s too good. Now my friends expect artisanal bread platters at every potluck, and I’m running out of excuses to show off my knife skills. In summary, if you want a bread knife that’s part chef, part therapist, and part stand-up comedian, the Mercer Culinary M23210 is your guy. Buy it, love it, and maybe start a fan club.

CAUTION
Great knife does well what it's supposed do easily, slice bread. Just a word of caution, this knife is like almost razor sharp. I just bumped the blade with my hand and got a good cut. I suggest using the package as a blade guard.

Commercial kitchen quality meets blue collar budget.
It has a nice grip shape, angle, texture, and tackiness (meaning it doesn't slip around much if I have a little bit of butter or fat on my fingers), good straight blade, and sharp right out of the box. Serrations are the right width for easy touch-up with a 1/4" ceramic rod when needed, but I'm sure that'll only be once every few years at the frequency with which I plan to use this. While not ideal, it functioned well as a slicer on a few hams and birds over the holidays. Mercer M33118P knife guard (ASIN B09DY28C4N) fits perfectly for safe storage in a drawer.

Slices through crusts easily!
The media could not be loaded. I'm really happy with this bread knife. The blade is sturdy and slices through thick bread crusts and bagels with relative ease. This knife works even better than my electric knife! I like that the handle has a good grip and is offset from the blade without being too heavy.
