Relatively easy, but tedious: worth the effort!
My grout was only a year old and "the kind that doesn't need sealing," but it looked awful! It was darker in the well-traveled sections and had stains, not to mention being rough. The Spectrum Grout Colorant did a great job. I divided the room into 6 sections and did one a day since it can be tedious and hard on the back. I used a small, stiff, angled artist's brush and it worked very well. A toothbrush (as some recommend) would be much too big. I immediately wiped excess with a thin cloth wrapped around my fingernail. It has been a month now and it looks so good!
