Good book for children

A surprise discovery that I chanced on during my search for books for my son I was very happy that I had bought this volume. I was rather sad when I read through the last story and realised that there were no more ! This translation of Norwegian tales by Alf Proysen are both entertaining and paints a vivid picture of life in the villages of Norway where there are angry moose terrifying the clever and smart old Mrs Pepperpot in winter to the little folk of the country side visiting her every now and then for help. A must-read for every child and grown-ups who enjoy reading their kids' books !!

Oh my, this was read to me as a child and I lived to listen to Mrs Peperpots adventures. And now I can share them with my own children.

Mum used to read these stories to me and now I'm reading them to my girls. Love hearing then again :)

I love these quirky children's stories : Mrs. Pepperpot is a real character. The stories are short enough to entertain even younger children and would make good bedtime reading. This conpendium brings together a lot of the books previously published individually

I never knew about Mrs Pepperpot when I was a child, how did I miss this? I feel very fortunate to now be reading these stories with my children (7 and 8) who think they are absolutely hilarious. So do I. Although each story is short, they are beautifully crafted, simple but full of interest and within just a few short pages the author conveys so much.This compilation has really captured our imagination and the children love scanning the index of interesting titles to decide which one to read next.Brilliant.

The used paperbook I ordered and received doesn't correspond to the pictures (it is a "chapter book" edition with only B&W illustrations), it doesn't fit for a 4yo but would be nice for older children.
