The vent is useful in that it makes a hissing sound when the food / water starts to boil.Upma, Soupy Noodles etc cook uniformly.The ' fins' or flaps provided for opening the box are staggered and therefore easy to open even in hot condition.Unlike glass cookware, the lid is also microwaveable.
