Momentary Button Starter Switch w/ Boot (45460)

I bought this for an older vehical that had an ignition problem which parts are rare to find. And even if, who wants to tear apart the steering column just to replace it ?I have been down that road before, takes a special wheel puller and hours of work, unless you find a replacement and pay a high mechanc bill. And even then, you must carry two keys, one for new ignition, old one to lock the doors or open the trunk.Simple fast install, two pieces of wire, (not included) anyone can do.Mounts anywhere.Requires a 3/4 inch hole to mount anywhere or improvise with a quick make metal bracket.Simply drill a small hole, open it up with a dremel grinder on metal,, or use a 3/4 spade drill used for wood in carpentry work from any hardware store on plastic dashboard.Attach the wires on back, place it in the hole,tighten the nut on back to hold it secure.Hook one wire on the starter solinoid, on on the battery both on the positive sides.Turn the key to run position, push button to start, off you go.Used on race cars, but can be used on cars,trucks,boats,lawn tractors,anything with a bad ignition, quick fix.Sounds complicated? Took me 1/2 hour total. And at a great cheap price. I did locate an old replacement ignition cylinder at junkyard, $150 they pulled it,(or you tear everything apart to get it, and then everything apart again to install), and may be worn out and not work just like my the old one anyway.Any idiot like me can install this in 1/2-3/4 hour and done.Then you end up this route anyway.Even if available new thru a part store or dealer,special order, (afraid to even imagine the price),hours of work to install,and a lot of tools and experience I have gone thru that one time before.Again, quick and easy, push the button, start and go.

I received the two starter push buttons as ordered. The dimensions were as I assumed for there were no measurements given for length or diameters of mounting shaft or contact body. The only thing ,in my opinion that removed my rating to 4 stars was the end of the push button that came into contact with the rubber boot had a point in the center of the button. This point, I think is rather sharp and of a length to cause the rubber boot to fail prematurly in frequent operations. I installed the Buttons on a delivery truck for the lift gate operations up and down. Before installation i used a fine mill file to reduce the height and sharp point from the operator . Now the sun will do more damage to the boots than finger pressure. This is another Item I purchased through Amazon with complete comfidence in the product and vendors, they hold to customer satisfaction and live up to that standard, however I've never had to return a product for any reason, I'm satisfied.

This switch performs exactly as noted. My Starter switch on my yamaha atv broke and instead of spending $300 on a new one I decided to run a separate starter switch using this momentary button switch. My yamaha starter switch assembly consists of an ON/OFF switch, a START button, and HI/LOW light switch. I didn't want to spend $300 to replace all of the cluster of switches, which is why I ran the STARTER switch separate using this momentary switch. It works great and is waterproof. I made a home made handlebar mount to attach the switch to using a piece of ABS and a U bolt. I made 3 holes in the ABS. One for the switch to slide thru and 2 for the u bolt. I slipped the switch thru the hole and and held it in place by fastening the washer that comes with it. I'll post pictures later of this mod.

I purchased this switch to replace a hack job 120v switch on a motorcycle.. What the heck was this guy thinking using a house switch for the starter - You can easily leave it 'on' and burn out the starter!This replacement is perfect. This is a heavy duty switch that seems rather weatherproof. It comes with 2 connectors for proper wiring and now serves as a awesome starter button for my old '81 motorcycle. After painting it matte black, I love it and it matched the vintage look of my bike. Overall I highly recommend this product!Only thing that would make this even better is a bracket of some sort for 90 degree mounting. I didn't have anything to put this 'through' to fasten it, so I had to come up with something myself.

I used this push button switch to bypass the defective electronic starting system on a cheap Chinese 150cc scooter. It was wired directly across the solenoid battery cables with 12awg wire & crimped lugs. No problem getting the little scooter to start up now! It's a very tough little push button with a very strong spring return. So, I'm not too worried about the contacts getting welded together. I wouldn't recommend using it like this on a larger automobile starter solenoid though. Probably be safer to hook it across the solenoid coil wires instead. Good luck & happy motoring.

I use these for my old lawn tractor in place of the key starter switch. They work great, and hold up well. The shipping was fast, and the price was half of what I was paying for them at TSC here in town. They last about two years under pretty regular use, and even though they are really heavy duty, they do wear out. But you can't go wrong buying these here on amazon from this seller.

The switches look well made. The picture of the switch looked like what needed to repair the controls on a yard crane. I bought 4. They turned out to be a direct replacement of the defective ones on the crane. The price was right and only time will tell if they are as good as they look.

This switch lasted about 3 weeks, and now only functions about 10% of the time. I have to keep pressing it over and over before it works. Loose internals, perhaps? It seems to work better if I put a little bit of sideways pressure on it, but that may just be in my head. I'm using it as the starter switch for a small diesel engine, so it's probably got about 5~10 amps running through it.
