Komelon MK4512 Meter-Man 14.3" Diameter Measuring Wheel

I bought this after educating myself on the various styles and costs with this wheel and manufacturer seeming to be in the "sweet spot". of quality vs. price I received it in one day and from the moment I got it I realized it was top notch. It is very light at 1.5 lbs. but sturdy with a folding handle and stand that both seem to work well. Don't know if the handle clip would hold up to hard use but, if your careful, it should. The wheel is on roller bearings and spins freely and the counter is mechanical working both forward and backwards. The counter is incased in rubber and the numbers are magnified for easy reading. I took it to a field we are measuring for a car show and it flowed easily across the park grass. I recommend this for medium duty use and quality of design and construction. Unless you are using this for your profession I don't see why you would need to pay more.

Loved it! Price was good and it works just perfect for us. We had just bought a property that we will be putting fencing in. I (a woman) used this to measure the area, it was about 2000 feet in total. I rolled it on the dirt track and I had no issues whatsoever with it, it gave me the correct measurements. The height is perfect and I have absolutely no complaints. So easy even a girly woman in heels can use it!

I bought this for my dad who has been in construction for over 50 years. He uses such a measuring device all the time. He had one with a small wheel but it didn't work well outside when doing ground measurements. I got him this one with a 19" Wheel and he flipped out. He has already used it several times on jobs and he loves it. The large wheel takes very accurate measurements over rough terrain and the display is large and easy to see. All the other subcontractors ask him where he got it from. The only negative (which is very minor) is that once you install the handle it will no longer fit in the box it came in. It would be nice if it would fit in the box to protect it when bouncing around in the back of a pickup truck.

This is a pretty good measuring tool. The advantage of the large wheel (actually oversized when compared to similar tools with smaller sized wheels) is it'll cover rough terrain more easily, not just hard flat surfaces. The mechanical (analog) versus digital counter translates to no additional features/options but also does not require batteries - a plus in my books! The 4-star rating is for its overall quality which is not too bad but not worthy of 5-star rating. The 'kick stand' is not very good. Not sure how long it will last. The extension wand/handle works pretty well. I particularly like the fact that the wheel is made of solid tough polystyrene material - no rubber rim to worry about wear and tear. The analog counter actually measures down to a fraction of a foot and appears to be reasonably accurate, unlike some measuring wheels with magnetic sensors that only count the number wheel rotations. The counter and housing are not of the highest quality - I would say it is about average in construction and material as most measuring wheels go. The product's website does not boast a weather proof/resistant housing. Unlike several other companies' products, Komelon seems to specialize in measuring tools which earns slightly higher trust on my part. Since the wheel is much larger than most, it is more bottom heavy compared to smaller sized measuring wheels. The wand and handle appear a bit undersized in terms of control and maneuverability as compared to Keson MP401E, for example, which appears better constructed but also costs twice as much. Komelon has another product virtually identical to this except it is in metric units. Buyer should be aware and careful when ordering so as not to purchase the wrong product. The first unit I received was the metric product as opposed to imperial (feet) units but that was a packaging error on the part of Komelon. Amazon promptly replaced it with the proper order. At the price point, I think the product deserves 4-stars overall. A more solid kick-stand and counter construction would have earned it 5-stars. A very useful and recommended tool nevertheless.

I use this wheel for work measuring houses. It can even roll on top of the snow! Very easy to read dial.

This is one of those two rating reviews. For functionality, I'll give this 5 stars. It's easy to use, works well, and is accurate as long as you remember a few things: The wheel will continue to spin if you lift it up and continue to increase the counter. So read the counter with the wheel on the ground. If you don't move in a perfectly straight line, you may end up with a little longer measurement than actual. For most uses that isn't a problem but you should know in case you think it's off - it's probably you. The measurement is from the center of the wheel, so if you're measuring a room you obviously can't get the center of the wheel to the edge of the wall. Add 7.15 inches as that's half the wheel size (number provided my manufacturer). Now the 3 star part - assembly on mine was screwed up. There are only two parts to assemble, the wheel and counter unit is one, the handle is the other. The handle inserts into the main unit using a spring loaded pin. On mine the pin and hole were on the wrong side so that when inserted the handle faced backwards. Also the pin wouldn't stay in place because the hole in the main unit was off just a touch. So not only was the handle facing backwards, it kept popping out. It was more work to ship back and order again so I pulled the spring pin out (very easy), used the hole on the wrong side as a guide and drilled a new hole on the other (correct) side of the shaft of the handle. Slightly enlarged it to accommodate the off centre hole in the main unit, and now everything works fine. That's great if you have the tools and are comfortable doing it, but that shouldn't be the case. You should open the box, push the handle in and be done. And it's 100% a manufacture issue so that's not great. In short, tool works well, QC is not great.

Appears to be fairly accurate, have not compared it to a tape but for my purposes it does a good job. Construction is about what I expected for the price, not flimsy or strong but adequate if taken care of properly.
