Rayman continues his reign as the King of Color!
Holy macaroni... what a vivid, imaginative, and colorful universe this limbless fellow lives in! I was a huge fan of Rayman Origins, which was released two years ago. At that time, I considered it to be the best 2D platformer in the history of gaming, and I believe that has remained true - until now. Ubisoft has done gamers everywhere a huge service by improving upon their remarkable formula in every possible way, and delivering a game that's even BETTER than the awesome platformer that is Origins. Foremost, the visuals of Legends need to be addressed. One of the best things about Origins was that it looked like you were controlling a cartoon, which resulted in terrific animations, slapstick comedy, bizarre spectacles, and OODLES of SMILES. I would have been perfectly happy if this sequel looked exactly like Origins, but somehow the developers have made it look even better. The graphics in this game POP like nothing I've ever seen before, and it looks even more like an animated movie than ever. Graphics generally have little to do with actual gameplay, but in the case of the Rayman games, their whimsical presentation has a direct correlation with the end result (that being fun, laughter, and wonder), so they do have a big impact here. This game is a visual treat, and I predict that it will be impervious to the "aging" that most games suffer from, because the art direction is so marvelously realized. Though Legends' graphics may make this game look a tad childish, do not be deceived - this is a meticulously designed platformer that offers tremendous challenges. Furthermore, if you study the layout of the levels and practice, you will discover that there is an incredible amount of sophistication here. As far as I can tell, EVERY level can be played in one swift movement, with no hesitation whatsoever - if you have the skill to memorize the patterns and the reflexes to guide you (which comes in handy when attempting to complete time challenges). I am blown away by the amount of care that the designers put into this game. I don't see any "shortcuts" or evidence of "going through the motions" to fill out content. And on the subject of content, there is a staggering amount here. The campaign alone is very long, particularly for a 2D platformer, but what makes the game infinitely larger is the amount of additional challenges and collectibles. Multiplayer is also a blast, and I can have fun playing Legends with less experienced gamers. Though it is far harder to complete challenges when I have other gamers along for the ride, that's not what it's about - it's about having fun and watching Rayman and Globox slap each other silly. It bears mentioning that you can have anybody play this game with you, from a five-year-old to your granny. There is no violence other than the "cartoon" variety, and it's a huge departure from the glut of ultra-violent titles that have saturated the market in recent years. To me, this is a wonderful, beautiful break from the norm. No longer do you have to worry about "headshots" and the other staples of the shooter genre, but you can focus on the types of things that made us enjoy games when we were younger: a sense of wonder, whimsy, and the relentless pursuit of fun. If you want to BOOST this game on PSN, please send me a friend request (my PSN ID is WhiskeyBean). There is one trophy that is particularly difficult to get, and you need to have PSN friends playing it and competing on the Daily/Weekly Challenges. The challenges are really fun and only take a few minutes a day, and you will also have to do the challenges to reach the last level of "awesomeness", which unlocks another difficult trophy. All Rayman players are welcome to seek me out... thanks!

A platforming masterpiece
After playing and enjoying Rayman Origins, buying Rayman Legends was a no-brainer. The foundation of Rayman remains firmly in place, while some nice online pieces were added on. Combat -- There's really nothing new here. You can attack bad guys one of two ways: Jump on top of their heads, or use a melee attack. I know it sounds simplistic, but it's extremely fun. Of course, there are no combos per se, but you can string together a few kills, by bouncing on the heads of opponents that are close together. Also, if you melee attack an enemy that's in the proximity of other enemies, there's a good chance he'll pinball into the rest of them, taking them all out. Sorry, that's the most interesting thing I have, regarding combat. Weaponry -- Well, it's a side-scrolling platformer, so weapons are pretty much nonexistent. I'll do the best I can with this one... If you play as Rayman or Globox (or whatever the hell his name is), your fists are considered 'weapons'. If you play as Barbara, or one of her many sisters, you'll ACTUALLY have a real weapon - Well, kinda. They all wield some type of sword or axe, and it works the same way as Rayman's fists, just looks different. If you play as one of the Teensies, you'll use magic as your only weapon. Ok, Its not really 'magic'. If you press the attack button, the Teensy will shoot out something from it's hand, and it kills the enemy, so in my book, that's a damn magic attack. Enemies -- The enemy variety is ok, but nothing special. If we can be honest with ourselves, I think we know who the true enemy is - The environment! Just like any other platformer that's worth its salt, the environment is tricky, and sure to keep you on your toes. However, the Rayman franchise introduced a 'wrinkle' that I've never seen in a platformer game. While making your way through the treacherous environment, be sure to look out for trapped Teensies, so that you can save them. There are ten in each level, some are in plain sight, while others are well hidden. You don't have to save any of them, but I highly recommend it because it makes the game more challenging. Otherwise, you might feel like you're just going through the motions. Oh, before I forget. There are 5 boss battles, and they're all extremely difficult, but not cheap. You'll die a lot, but the game has such a whimsical vibe to it, you won't even care. Miscellaneous -- The coolest thing about Rayman Legends are the brand new online challenges. Online challenges are based on scores, and you can earn a bronze, silver, or gold trophy. Some challenges are daily, meaning the level design and objective will change every 24 hours, while other challenges are weekly. At the end of the 24 hour cycle (or weekly cycle), trophies are handed out to those who've qualified. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but I've earned my fair share of trophies, and it wasn't easy. It's not a terribly long game, so you shouldn't have any trouble finishing it under 20 hours. It's refreshing to play a side-scroller that's really fun, unlike some other side-scrolling games I know of COUGHS dragon's crown COUGHS. Sorry about that, I'm a bit congested, better grab some Sudafed... I'll be objective and point out the one thing I didn't like. I wish there was an online co-op mode because the local co-op mode does me no good. I love everything else about the game. If you're wanting a break from a shooter game, or maybe you're sick of button mashing your way through action games. At any rate, ignore the 'baby game' stigma that has been unfairly attached to the Rayman franchise. The Rayman games are very fun, and harder than you think. Speaking of hard games; Bloodborne, you're up next!

Soooo much fun!
The product was well packed and got here with no issues at all. The game itself is a lot of fun.. and the sounds with the game are not obnoxious. (I do tend to turn off any and all music in games because it tends to be repetitive... so I can't tell you if the music in this one is annoying because i turn that stuff off before I get a chance to be annoyed. lol) I am a 53 year old woman with a movement disorder.. fairly new to playing games on playstation. The levels have some difficulty but not so much so that it ruins it for me. I have been taking it slow playing any of the games I have including this one.. because my main focus is not reaching the end of the game. I am simply enjoying playing. This game gives me enough to do to keep me from being bored with it.. and the graphics are very nicely done. I have not seen any glitches with game play either. I can see where this would be fun for kids ... but also fun for parents. I don't see where there really needs to be an age limit on this one as long as a person has the ability to understand what they are supposed to do .. and an ability to use a game controller. This is just a truly enjoyable game. Thank you for a nice one!

Altamente recomendable!
