Nighttime wildlife viewing
We discovered we had hedgehogs in the garden after sitting out on long summer evenings. Unfortunately viewing them is tricky as they only come out after dark. We put out food, (old cat food and mealworms) and watch them. One can only do this with a red light which doesn't disturb them. As long as you keep quiet the light can be shone straight at them without disturbing them. A somewhat bizarre use for a "hunting" torch but most effective
