Joseph Marples, Trial 1, Screwslide mortice gauge

My mistake, i had wanted to find adjust the single line pin, not the width of the mortice. It would be helpful if the description of it made clear what can be fine adjusted and what not.

It has become so hard to find and obtain high quality traditional marking guages and this one does has not let me down, I've just tested squareness and accuracy and it's is on par with my Veritas but so much more pleasant to use.The finish is divine, particularly on the brass plate as it's machined face is almost as pristine as my fully tuned high carbon steel planes

Finest quality precision product. Should probably come with a fabric sleeve. I hate the idea of it being scraped and chipped in my toolbox with the other tools.

A beautiful tool, almost a work of art and part of a tradition that is fading fast.It will do the job as required but not many people are willing to pay the price for the quality.I guess I'm a dinosaur - but i don't care. It's worth it! :-)

I bought this Marple product going by memory from using this as a teenager at school in woodworking class. I remember what the teacher said about the brass plates and the centre strip.... 40+ years later... he wasn't wrong! Teachers did have their uses after all.. ;)

Love this it looks nice works well just one or two tiny discrepancies in the fittings and gaps but only noticeable upon further close inspection.

I've just received it, so not actually used it yet. However... It's beautiful. The quality of the workmanship is fantastic. Not sure whether to mark joints with it or frame it on the wall
