Crictor: A Diverting Picture Book About a Pet Boa Constrictor in a French Village for Children (Ages 4-8) (Reading Rainbow Books) Review: Cute and fun - My daughter L.O.V.E.S. snakes. She is almost 8 and has loved snakes since before she was 3. They have always been her favorite and even owns a ball python now and plans to be a herpetologist when she grows up. However, most people don't like snakes and finding books where the snake is the "good guy" is super hard. A friend found this at the library and had me read it and we bought it for her for her next birthday and it's just lovely. The illustrations are adorable (something I personally care about) the snake is the good guy (what my daughter cares about) and the book is fun and funny (what my husband and other kids care about). I would definitely recommend it. Review: The boa constrictor who could - I came across this book years ago in a bookstore in the foreign language section of children's books. (It was in German and I was studying German.) I have since bought countless copies whenever and wherever I came across them to give to friends' children. I'm now grandmother-aged, but it's still one of my favorite books (in either language). The illustrations are so clever and the story is sweet. Note: I can't recall which language has which, but the drawing of an octopus in one of the books has only 7 tentacles, whereas the drawing in the other book has 8 tentacles. This is a must for children from 3 to 93. If there were 10 stars, I would give it 10.

Old story about a French women who get a pet boa
8 year old loved this old book I found it in a second hand store . Original price was 45 cents but bought a new one ( soft cover ) for my daughters book parade for school dressing up as the old Madame Bodot, with a red fancy hat and a pool noodle I made into a snake for her book parade . She loves the book as well as being a hit for the parade

Nostalgia
My great grandmother has this when I was a little girl and we lived with her. My mom still has it it the house, but I wanted to have a copy that wouldn't disintegrate to share with my niece and nephew. Brings me back to being 3 sitting in grams living room while she reads this to me. So much joy to have it again!

Crictor...the boa constrictor. I like it. :-)
Do you ever like a book 'just because'? I can't make a comment on the witty prose or beautiful artwork to back up my heartfelt, "I like it" but I will try. It is an endearing tale about a snake. The storyline is nonsensical and fun--totally entertaining. The pen and ink drawings with lots of green coloring like the beloved title character are a perfect compliment to the story. If you want to go educational get out the maps and locate the 2 places that are mentioned in the story -- France & Africa. A sense of right & wrong alongside good character always strikes a chord with parents so Crictor is right on there. Whether an adult is reading aloud or an elementary student is reading independently, this book is sure to please. All things considered, I just like it. :-)

Bellissimo libro, bellissime illustrazioni. L'ho preso in inglese perchè purtroppo non è più disponibile in italiano. La storia del serpente buono mette tutti di buon umore!

This was the first book I ever took out of the library that I could read to myself and now 60 years later I was delighted to find it for my granddaughter who loved it just as much. It is funny and charming and the illustrations are a delight.

Tomi Ungerer wrote brilliant childrens` books , and they were favourites with my children in the 70`s, so I was really pleased to see this in print. Wonderful illustrations, simple but rich text, full of depth and humour. My 4 yr old grandson loves this book, and without prompting went off to make letter and number shapes with his rubber snake. I don`t know who loves this book the most--me or him, but it`s a book to treasure. Crictor (Reading Rainbow Books)
