This is the best astronomy book I've encountered so far. It's extremely well written and has tons of beautiful colorful illustrations that make things even clearer (and are fascinating in their own right). The amount of information (large), the density of information (not too dense to get in the way of pleasant reading) and the level of difficulty (a high-school student can deal with it) are just right for my purpose: brush up on all aspects of astronomy in my spare time. It is of course a few years old, but if you don't want to pay the price for the latest edition, this is a good purchase.

Even though I bought this book for a college course, I do still find it fascinating. Especially as one needs to review the things they've learned in order to remember it. The only thing I wish is that my prerequisites for graduation required cosmology as well. I want to learn more than what's within the contents of this book. Which is, pretty much just the basics.

Used for class and honestly didn’t open the book because the professor did slides & lectures of the important topics. Nice book though.

This was not to book advertized, and this particular edition is mising a major chapter, so I would not recomend it for class. Perhaps as simple read. I returned the book an expressed my distaste with seller. Bryan is the person I dealt with and he was understanding accomodating to my stituation. I am fortunate I got my money back, which I used to buy an older Hard Cover version ( which is what Originally had purchased but, recieved the soft cover instead ).

I got this book for my astronomy class. When I received it I was surprised at how fast I got it. The book was in excellent condition and has been well written. I think this will be one of the few textbooks I will hold on to.

I am taking a class that requires only half of this textbook. However, because I find the book up to date and well written, I am almost finished reading the entire thing. I did find a couple of errors in the book, which I sent to my instructor so that he can send them on to the appropriate people. Otherwise, I could recommend this textbook not only to instructors but to anyone interested in astronomy.
