How do you keep this or any other similar light from sliding off the tank? Everytime I go anywhere near it it falls off the side. Frustrating!

The metal arms on each side slide in and out so you can adjust them to the tank lengthand push them in to kinda hug the side of the tank.

How do I change the colors?

Mine is set on sunrise-sunset. It auto changes through the day. I do not know if you can change colors.

Can this be used as extra lighting for a snake? Not as a uvb source but strictly to add better lighting for viewing my snake.

I'm no expert, but if you already have an additional heat source should be OK. It would only add light. We had snakes for a long time and they didn't care one way or another
