Have you tried adding a dab of Vaseline to the axles in the wheels? You might contact the manufacturer direct. They may have had some defective parts.

Q: Could this be pushed around all day at the zoo?

Yes it could . The seat is also a small cargo space . The cup holders in the back however are just a bag that is hanging on. Not that stable but it works . Pushes easy. Had no problems with the wheels

There is no hump. One child can sit in the middle

With the handle removed it should fit.
