The Laura Line

This author is AWESOME. My child and I have had read her 1st book and went searching for anymore books she had written. My child was sucked and hooked on the 1st chapter in her 1st book. He thought this 2nd book wouldn’t be as good because it was about a GIRL..LOL.. But little did he know that this book was just as good as the book with Lamar. I would advise anyone that had a teen entering into JR High to get this book. We passed the book to one of our friends and her son read the book in a day! They are waiting now on Laura. GREAT BOOK!

I was pleasantly surprised by Crystal Allen's book, "The Laura Line". I ordered it for a 7 year old girl and I always read the books I buy for my grandchildren before I send them on. I felt it was just a little too deep for her, but she will definitely get it in a year or so. I loved it and it held my interest all the way through. It had several messages within the interesting story line which was different.

Great, realistic story about a girl who grows from learning about her roots. Highly readable for middle school kids.

The Laura Line is a light funny swiftly moving tale about identity and self-discovery that deals with one of the most difficult topics to discuss in America today, the legacy of slavery. Kudos to Crystal Allen for providing a true to life sassy heroine who tackles the question, if not head on, then at least in the funniest manner possible. Go Laura!

I read this book for my group's book club. I lead the group of fifth graders and thought it would work as our Black History Month selection. I was not disappointed. Well written for a middle grade reader.

Can't say enough about this book!We read it as a school - I've never seen so many kids so excited about the same book!

I really liked it at first I wasn't so sure about it but try reading it.i recommend this book read it!
