MOJO Outdoors Decoys HW4310 Hawk,Beige,One Size

Just what I needed

This is a tough review. First of all, I need to say how great this decoy looks. It's a perfect replica of a hawk in every way from the size to the color. That's where the positives stop. I had a bad experience with this decoy. The battery does not work. I've charged it for days on end and it simply doesn't work. I contacted the company and they refunded me and let me keep the decoy which was nice but it's just a statue without the motion.I mentioned it's accurate in it's size. The wings detach and are made of a cardboard-like material so care needs to be taken when transporting them. It comes with a stake that breaks down into 3 sections to hang the decoy from. And, if it worked, the battery weighs about 5 pounds. All of these factors added together make for a burdensome package. You need to pack a separate bag into the field just for this decoy and its components. Be prepared to haul this thing around. The decoy body is awkward to carry and the other components make it quite heavy.So basically, if you're considering buying this decoy, you have to truly have your mind set that this is something that your decoy set cannot exist without. I'm an avid crow hunter and this would have been a great asset to my set, but without the motion, it does more harm than good hence the two star rating. If the decoy worked, I would have to give it 4 stars because it's just too burdensome to carry in the field.I have a couple suggestions on making this decoy better (just in case Mojo ever reads this). It needs to be collapsible. This is not impossible as there is enough empty space inside the decoy shell to store a couple post-hunt beverages. The sides could be a soft plastic or it could unhinge to collapse on itself. Any improvement in this area would be better than what we currently have. Also, my battery didn't work, but I can only imagine how much heavier the whole package would be with it. I mean, can't this thing just run on 4 AAs or something more reasonable to carry than a boat anchor? The wings need to be something more durable than what they got. I know for sure I will bend these and render them useless. Finally, the stake is cute, but I already have 10 pounds worth of stuff to carry with this thing and now we're adding three 16" sections of steel to haul around as well? No. It's too much stuff. Other than the suggestions on every single component of the decoy I mentioned, it's great.

Overall, the product was OK at best. My last 3 Mojo products came with magnetic wings, the Hawk has old style screw on wings.The battery box is very tight on the battery which makes it extremely hard to take out. My other Mojo products work much easier.The support pole that slips on the square plastic stub between the hawk legs was extremely tight, so i had to grind the plastic stubdown for it to fit easily in the metal support pole. I have Mojo ducks, a dove and the crow. I would give them a 5 star rating, but 2star is the most i can give the "hawk". I plan to contact Mojo about this product and see if they can warranty the battery box problemand send me a magnetic conversion kit for the wings.
