Fit and Seals perfectly fixing P0442
(P0442) The vehicle's PCM (powertrain control module) tests the evaporative emissions (EVAP) system for large and small leaks among other conditions. In the case of this DTC, it indicates a fuel vapor leak in the EVAP control system. It means a very small leak has been detected. Greater than 90% of the time, the fuel cap has lost its ability to seal. For a few dollars, the problem can be fixed, circumventing a much higher cost. Of course, the cap must fit properly and make the seal. This cap is great. It is more expensive form the generic brands, but hey, it's well worth a few dollars more to absolutely make sure you do not have to spend several hundred or more expensive diagnostics and repairs.

It is a stock replacement
2003 Econoline with 5.4L 2V motor. Battled EVAP codes for a while. Early on I had replaced the gas cap with an off brand model. Found other problems, fixed them, continued to get large leak EVAP codes indicating: "fix or replace fuel cap". Finally decided to try it and the EVAP codes have all been solved. This cap appears to be close enough to stock replacement with the sealing surface and valve operation for allowing the EVAP system to do its job.I'm also aware the EVAP system is not necessarily required for a motor to run, but I prefer to not have a steady MIL potentially masking other codes that may pop up. This vehicle is a work van driven by someone else, that I maintain. There is a lot to be said for the daily driver to tell me, "hey, check engine light just popped on today".

Does not fit 07 Expedition
Despite the AmazonConfirmedFit, this gas cap DOES NOT fit my 2007 Ford Expedition. Thankfully I could return the product for free. Product looked ok, just doesn't fit.

Wrong cap
This was not the proper gas cap for my car. It does not fit no matter what I try. I have just been holding onto the cap because I don't know what to do with it.

Excellent Replacement Quality
This gas cap helped to stop the constant engine check light from coming on because it stopped the vapor canister concern and provides a proper seal

A perfect fit
A perfect fit for my 2004 Expedition. The check engine light error for this has not come back.
