For broke foodies, connoisseurs, college students, and everyone in between
So you're starving, and yet, nothing sounds good. You stare at your pantry. Your stomach rumbles. You think, okay, let's just do some buttered rice, that sounds fin- WAIT.Grab a container of furikake. Set it aside. Make your rice (you should really own a rice cooker, they're cheap, okay?). Plate your serving. NOW. Sprinkle some furikake on top. Taste the delicate saltiness of the seaweed, the mellow umami of the egg and bonito, the... toastiness(?) of the sesame seeds. The warm rice melts in your mouth, with not one flavor fighting for your attention - all are working in harmony, just as it should be.Think about next time - you could add a dash of soy sauce or rice vinegar if you need it, or maybe a dab of sriracha? Heck, you could even do a stripe of ketchup (I won't tell on you this time, I promise). Or, you could add a poached egg, some fried tofu (my favorite!), chopped green onion, or even some minced pork, but only if you're feeling really cool (don't worry, you're always cool). Have you even made omurice? You should probably make omurice at some point.Bask in the glory of simplicity. The bottom line: It's a couple dollars, and you only need a little. You basically need this in your pantry. The salmon variant is also highly recommended. FYI, it's probably cheaper at your local Asian market/grocer - always shop local, I bet they're super nice and will be happy to see you :)

Highly recommended when used properly
I had a friend who visited Japan and raved about Furikake. He convinced me to try it. When it came I made some rice and added it in while cooking the rice. What a mistake. My friend laughed at me for quite a while. This is supposed to be used like salt and pepper, sprinkled on whatever dish it is added. Do NOT use it like a spice mixed in with the dish. It will ruin the dish making it taste like fish from the seaweed.I sprinkle it over my rice to add some flavor and it is beautiful. Highly recommended when used properly. As far as versatility, I can't honestly say. I use it on my rice, but haven't really tried it on anything else. So my versatility rating is from my lack of knowledge, not the product.

Good seasoning
I'm getting into the Asian flavors and creating dishes that are similar. I use this on cauliflower rice bowls I make. Really gives a good flavor without over powering the food. I do wish it had more of the seaweed flavor but I just eat with a nori square so it's all good.

Terrible fishy taste
I’ve had several furikake before and this one has a weird fishy aftertaste and not the good kind from the nori. It also has a warning label for lead? I would not recommend this to anyone.

Great seasoning.
I use this on my rice to give it a kick and it’s good on vegetables also. I love seaweed and this is “the bomb”!
