Don’t freak out.
To those who bought this and found their display and controls aren’t responding— don’t panic. Open the player by unscrewing the 4 screws underneath its yellow foot. Now flip the player and use a plastic pry, to pry open the body from the edges. You will find a white ribbon cable detached from the board. Use your finger nail or the same pry tool to gently flip the hinge adapter (it is sensitive). Now align the blue end of the ribbon cable above the metal connectors inside the adapter (place it as far as it can go). Close the hinge adapter gently. Check if the cable is not loose (tap it to see if it will detach easily). Once that is done, check the display by turning on the device. Once successfully completed, assemble it back again. The whole process takes about 15mins tops.

Incredible little device that I do not regret getting, both as a stationary player at home and for travel. I purchased the carrying case alongside it and it makes for a nice experience. Battery life is great and sound quality impeccable. It also looks very stylish. Only nitpick I have is that the protective packaging tape left some glue residue on the screen at the front of the player, but this was easy to remove with some cleaning product. No regrets here.

Really nice little unit, purchased to use the optical out with my DAC as I have no analogue pre amp anymore. works well, solid build, great styling. My only gripe, and reason to drop a star is: For the price, a remote control would have been nice, however given its intended as a portable device it makes sense why it doesn't have one. but just sees a little on the pricey side for what it is.

It's only been a short time but I love this CD player. I use it as a desktop player and will probably never use it as a portable player. I love the design and it actually appears nicely constructed. I have been using the mini toslink connection which works perfectly. I'll have to see how it holds up over time but as of now, I love it!
