Without the super zoom I would never have got any of these shots.
This is my fourth Nikon Coolpic super zoom. The greatest cameras for bird and animal life when traveling. I have Canon Pro equipment but when hitting the road the combination of super zoom and performance in these cameras is extraordinary. I started with the P900 then two P1000’s and now a P1100. No you are not going to get a 80 meg file but if you learn how to use this camera you will get extraordinary shots you couldn’t get with anything else because of the super zoom. Don’t believe me? check out my FB page where you will see. Going on a safari to Africa this is camera you need. We do a lot of nature photography down here near Marineland in Florida. Extraordinary bird shots. The P1100 is the best del you will ever get capabilities against price and if you view the results on a new iPad your photos will blow your mind!

Spectacular Performance
This single camera is able to accomplish what I used to need a bag of extra lenses and supplies besides. It is a real workhorse. I have left my more expensive and heavy equipment behind. It’s a game changer. Far away and up close pictures are a click away…

Good for the cost, but not great.
I took it out for a trial run yesterday. It was afternoon and sunny, though overcast. I immediately put a UV lens for protection and a shoe for a tripod. I looked at all the photos on my computer and was a bit worried about the picture quality. I really thought I would need to send it back. Then I decided to print some of the pictures. I chose the two I thought were the best quality. The 5 by 7 were good. One I printed 8 by 10 one lost detail (prob a focus issue) but the other still looked fairly sharp. My concern was the 11 by 17. I was prepared to be disappointed, but it looked amazingly good, not pro quality, but sharp enough the I could see good details. My eyes didn't feel like I was looking at something out of focus. I still have a lot to learn about this camera. Getting it to focus on exactly what I wanted focused, may take some time while I learn more about the camera and all of its functions. My initial thoughts are that this camera is good, not great (great would cost me upwards of $5,000.00 or more). At really high lens zoom the sharpness does suffer. Don't bother with the digital zoom, it is useless. You will certainly want a good sturdy tripod. Don't skimp here. At high zoom you won't be able to hold the camera still enough to take a decent photo. Weight: on the heavy side (it was too heavy for my tripod to hold it in the place I set it) Auto focus: fair (my phone camera is better) Value: Okay. Ease of use: There is a learning curve. Manuals for all features are on-line. Not my favorite way to access the info.

Superzoom Nikons are cool. Birds.. Animals... the Moon... it's good for that.
Not much of an upgrade from the previous version but these "Super zoom" cameras are cool for what they will do.... And this one has good video quality for my purposes. I rarely take video and am mostly taking wildlife shots just for enjoyment.

Great zoom camera
I purchased this before going on a trip to Alaska. It did a great job at photographing bear, sheep, moose, fox and caribou from long distances away. The clarity is awesome. Even though is has some stability built in, when taking the zoom out to a max, you will need a tripod to keep things steady. It was great at takings video/pics from different distances. The other tourist we were with were amazed at how close I could get. I took a picture of a glazier about a half mile away, then zoomed in on it to see the crystal formation on the glazier (as if I were 50 feet away).

Great lighting is needed for great shots.
I understand that professional photographers don't like this camera. Lighting has to be perfect for a 16mp shot at 3000mm (125x). I get it. But for just over a grand, the normal armature photographer, can't have anything close to this level of zoom except for spending $20,000+ for camera and lens. I will TAKE this level of photography... per the pics I have attached. The Eagle was about 125-150 yards (300 feet) away. I used a post to lean the camera on to stabilize the shot, as I didn't have my tripod. Darn good.

Binoculars w/ a camera
This is a fun camera and can do some amazing things. It's a great substitute for binoculars or a spotting scope and I've seen some good results for folks that put in the effort. But the images are pretty soft and look much worse than my iphone. It sort of looks like you took a picture with an old digital camera. I wouldn't want to share/post them. I was hoping to use this as a second camera during trips for quick, long range shots when they came up. But that's not really possible. Nothing beyond 2000mm was easy, particularly keeping your subject in focus or even in the frame. You need bright sunlight and a tripod and that is pretty limiting. You also need very little movement from both you and the subject, and that also doesn't work well with wildlife.

Wow, what an amazing zoom lens!!!
I bought this camera for an upcoming trip that I am limited on weight and cannot bring my usual camera/lenses. I wanted a super zoom lens so I don’t have to get too close to the wildlife I want to film. The pictures I took to test out the camera are all from my yard. The birds pictures were taken across the yard on “bird mode” without a tripod. The moon pictures were taken with a tripod on “moon mode”. The pictures turned out very clear. I was amazed how easy it was to get the amazing shots of the moon. The only con I can think of is the camera is a little awkward due to the size. My advice if buying the camera be sure to buy a memory card, battery charger, and cable to to tranfer photos to phone, ipad, etc. at the time of of purchase so you can begin taking pictures asap!!!

The camera performs well overall, but this specific product has a problem with the zoom function.

Una excelente camara , fácil de usar y un zoom increíble

Still getting used to the camera but so far I have no issues, yes it is a big camera but it is not as heavy as I thought it would be. A sturdy tripod is required when using the zoom at full length.
