AI HAT+ Build-in Hailo AI Accelerator with Metal Case & Active Cooler for Raspberry Pi 5 (13 Tops)

It works fine with pi 5 must enable pcie gen 3 Edit /boot/firmware/config.txt (with sudo nano) and add dtparam=pciex1_gen=3, then reboot

The case is great - very sturdy. The Hailo is a whole lot of fun to play with and incredibly impressive in its capabilities. Don't underestimate the time it takes to figure out how to set it up and get good results. My only issue is that the fan on the active cooler started squeaking and died after about a month of runtime. That's not great for a fan.

can't test yet. gpio header and standoffs provided are too short. with provided standoffs, the hailo board rubs on the provided heatsink fan screws, and even if the screw weren't there, there would be 0mm clearance between the hailo board and the heatsink blocking all fan airflow. also with the gpio extended being to short, even when pressed all the way down rubbing on the heatsink fan screws, the pins exposed are only about 2mm, far too short to connect anything to the GPIO. Note for others, you will need your own standoffs and header extender to make this functional.

i hate to say, it's a fail. i could not get this to work under any scenario with pi5. I wonder if there is a problem with hailo-8 because I tried this on multiple pi5 and could not make it work after multiple days, 4-5 hours per day, trying every scenario to make it work. Utimately the Pi5 pi 5 could not discover on PCIe bus for RaspbianOS in Bookworm x64 or or Trixie x64. I tried new clean os install thend tried apt upgrade full-upgrade, then apt get upgrade I tried very version of boot firmware for pi5 and drivers for hailo-8, this device could not be discovered. 50 hours later and several hundred dollars later there is no scenario which hail08 will work with pi5.

As was said must enable pci-e gen3 for it to work I think.
