Beagles - The Owner's Guide from Puppy to Old Age - Choosing, Caring for, Grooming, Health, Training and Understanding Your Beagle Dog or Puppy

It's been years since I'd owned a Beagle, and she was a Fox Terrier/Beagle mix. But, it was so long ago that I was surprised how much I had forgotten (having a hound mix in the interim kinda pushed all other knowledge to the edges). So, anyway, when I got my 7yo Beagle/Basset, Artie, in July, I was surprised by the constant nose-to-the-ground tracking behavior. My Beagle/Terrier didn't do that. I knew instantly that any training for this retired rabbit-tracking pack member would be challenging (but also lots of fun)! So I found the digital version of "Beagles - The Owner's Guide" on Amazon, and could not stop reading it until the end. Lots of information is packed in there, and I'm so glad I now know what to expect in the future! Only problem was that the book couldn't accurately describe that beautiful, joyful Beagle howl when Artie's found a fresh track! He's so much fun and I have so much to look forward to!

Book covered all things beagles inside and out. Very informative.

I recently brought home our Beagle puppy. I am an experienced dog owner but I other breeds. This book, which I read before bringing the puppy, helped me a lot in making the needed preparations- mentally and by buying the right equipment. We managed beautifully ( first 10days) so far.

This wonderful book about Beagles is full of very useful information for the inquiring, new, or even long time Beagle owner! It is full of first hand, anecdotal, advice from breeders. I highly recommend this fantastic book!

I have had several beagles over the years. The last two were rescues. One an adult male stray with numerous health and behavioral issues and the other a sweet adult female shelter adoptee, with an entirely different set of issues. Their personalities and temperaments couldn’t have been more different. I bought this book based on the reviews, but was very disappointed. If you are a first-time beagle owner, and that beagle is a puppy, this is definitely the book for you. Otherwise, save your money.

One of four books we ordered. This and 'Beagles For Dummies' are excellent, practical, detailed resources for anyone considering getting a Breagle. This is truly 'A complete guide!'

All you need to know and more about beagles. We were not sure what breed to go for and this book really influenced us in our decision making. We went for another breed because realised the beagle was not right for our lifestyle. Would recommend

This book gives the best case scenario of Beagle training not the real situation...say for instance potty training..it talks about potty training your beagle in 7 days...is this for real...Every one knows it's next to impossible...Instead of giving advice tofirst time owners who are struggling with the situation...the authors just describe an experienced trainers pup and moves on. What a shame

This book is somewhat difficult to read and in places a bit contradictory in its advice. It’s quite difficult to find any specifics because of the way the book is laid out with statements from various breeders on different subjects scattered throughout! It undoubtably has good advice in it but you will have to pretty much read the entire book and mark the sections on what you are concerned with for later review!

Very useful book. Lots of tips and hints which for me, an inexperienced beagle owner, have found to be invaluable. There are one or two bits of conflicting advice which has stopped me giving it five stars, however I am still very glad that I bought it!
