Do these smear? I’m a lefty

I use these pens for college work and I love these pens. I am also a lefty and these typically don't smear on notebook paper but if I write notes in my book, much thinner and glossier paper, they smear a little bit. The vibrancy of these pens keep me coming back though. 2nd best lefty pens I have in my arsenal. Only 2nd to Pilot G2 pens for smearability, but I love the color scale of the Sarasa pens.

Are these the shoddy-quality ones from Mexico, or the original quality from Japan?

I never really paid attention to where the pens originated, but just now, I checked and mine are made in Mexico and distributed through Zebra Pen Corp. in New Jersey. However, the pens in the illustration do not look like mine. I always get the Sarasa gel retractable pens, and they are not shoddy. I first discovered them in Staples years ago and fell in love. I've had no trouble with them, but I've noticed that the black pens (I buy ten of them at a time) seem to run out of ink quickly. But that may be because I use them to write in my journal every night. I couldn't be happier.
