The Broan-NuTone 688E is a quiet and efficient bathroom exhaust fan, earning its Energy Star rating. Its 50 CFM airflow is suitable for smaller bathrooms, effectively removing moisture and odors. Installation is generally straightforward, and the low sone rating (2.0) makes it pleasantly quiet during operation. While basic, it's a reliable choice for those seeking a cost-effective and efficient bathroom fan.

Good bathroom fan
I installed this unit in my house when I bought it due to there not being one previously. It was pretty easy to install and wire up, it works great, isn't too loud, and looks good with the white ceiling

Fit Perfectly!
Our house was built in 1989 and has 3 bathrooms with ventilation fans. I highly suspect those fans have NEVER been replaced. I looked at the fan cover and saw the name brand "Broan" and took a chance ordering this replacement fan. It worked like a charm!I removed the fan from the outside housing and only installed the internal fan. I removed the old fan in the master bath that had gotten severely clogged and rusted and refused to turn anymore. The outside housing in the ceiling is severely rusted, but still holding well. Replacing the entire unit would involve a full bathroom reno, which we aren't ready to do just yet. I vacuumed out all the dust and installed the new fan inside the previous fan's housing. It was simple, easy to do, doesn't even involved shutting off the power to the bathroom, and worked like a charm. It fits perfectly, and we have a working bathroom fan again!I ordered two more to replace the fans in every bathroom.

Dependable brand, powerful, with standard noise level - which I like
Recently one of my bathroom fans started to have issues. I had not replaced the fans for almost 20 years, so I wasn't surprised. All of my fans were made by Broan and since they lasted such a long time, i decided to get new Broan fans. Thankfully, I found the Broan-NuTone 671 at a very good price and bought several of these as replacements. Installation was easy and straightforward. The only issue was removing the old fans which required a dusk mask, and goggles (they were really dusty). Once the 671 was installed it worked as advertised. It is a "noisy" fan as one would expect, and it is not "quiet" at all. But I prefer this because it masks a person's "activities" while in the bathroom. Performance is very good - it clears the moisture from the air faster than my old fans for sure. Lastly, the vent cover of the fan can easily be opened for maintenance (like dust cleaning). This fan is a good choice for something inexpensive, reliable, and straight-froward.

Great value for the money.
I bought this to replace an in-op exhaust fan in our bathroom. It is the same one we purchased some years ago. It is very inexpensive ($16 when I purchased) and can clear 50 cubic feet per minute.I give it a 3 on noise level as it is a bit noisy. However it’s a noise of air being drawn in rather than noise from the motor or assembly. The motor is rather quiet and there are no rattles from the assembly, housing, fan, or cover. Again, you can definitely hear it drawing the air out.Installation I give a 4. It’s not difficult but it’s not just attaching it to a beam and plugging it into power. It does require the motor to be removed (which is done simply by lifting and pressing slightly against the housing) and then its electric panel to be removed (again also held on with tension) to be able to attach the power and more easily attach it to a beam. Then once secured and power hooked up you must replace the panel cover and the motor assembly to finish the installation. It can be attached with nails or screws. If this is going int a new install where Sheetrock has not yet been installed your installation will be slightly easier as you will not be confined to the opening in the Sheetrock. This unit can be mounted in ceiling or wall systems.** depending on how your current fan is installed you may have an easier or more difficult time installing. - - - I didn’t give it a 5 for installation due to needing to remove/disassemble two separate sections to install the electrical prior to attaching and putting it all back together **

I can't believe this thing works, but it does!!
The media could not be loaded. For the price, this is an amazing deal. I bought one on sale and expected to return it. I simply did not trust a fan at that low of a price. I was so impressed with the first one, I bought a second at full price, which was still less than 20% of the price of any other comparable bathroom fan.It is a little bit loud, but that white noise is half the reason iI use a bathroom fan, honestly. So, it's perfect. I now have one in each of my bathrooms and i could not be happier. I am thinking about buying a couple more just in case they wear out quickly, but I've had the first one running for over a month and it's still working as it did on day 1. Great fan for an unbelievably low price. If you need one, buy this one!

Loud but moves air well
This fan definitely moves air well from what I’ve seen so far, but the fan is way louder than expected. I anticipated not being able to hear it much outside of the bathroom, but you can clearly hear it 2-3 rooms away.
