Q: Does this have a loud start up sound? It will be in an office and I don't want to have to worry about trying to muffle it when I turn it on and off.

It does make a high pitched note when turning in and connecting to a Bluetooth device. It is short, but a bit loud.

It’s a Bluetooth if you Connect it with another one it works.

you can for a speaker, but the Mini Speaker does not have a Microphone, so you would still need to talk into your phone for the other party to hear you.
